Well let this be a warning to ya! You shouldn't heat/cool/heat/cool/heat/cool the Spec Ops liner or else it will get ruined! It got really deformed just in a 200 degree oven. I shoulda left well enough alone!
Robert H here on the sheath forum can make me a sweet kydex insert, easily the direction I wan't to go.
However in the meantime, is there anything else I can use? I thought I had read somewhere that the liner is just PVC?
Thanks HOGS

Heat it and stretch it. I have done this numerous times. I have even made the HHFSH fit in those liners without cutting or notching. It just takes patience. If you need another liner, Spec-Ops has been very good about sending new ones out if requested. Often with no charge.

Oops! Forgot to mention...

Spec Ops is out of liners, plus they'll charge me for it. They asked why I needed a new one and I told 'em.
20 bucks! I can get actual kydex fitted for cheaper dangit!

I don't know if it would have ever come back to life. It looked like a banana when I took it out.

Wow, they've started catching on I guess. It is hard to bring it back, but I've done it. Still, a custom would be nice and less frustrating.

Probably so.
I'm an instant gratification type so maybe I'll take a ferry ride to get some new kydex!

Hey Cleanly, which size do ya need? I have one of each. Otherwise, go with Robert...his work is fantastic. I have one of his custom-molded Spec-Ops jawns for my BATACLE.

I saw that, or was it a SJTAC you posted pics of in the sheath forum? It is great work. I appreciate the offer IGM! I think I'll hold out for one of his. He's a quick drive and a ferry ride away from me so I figure I'll give that a shot!

Thanks man!

That blows Spec-Ops now wants to charge you for a new liner. Knowing full well it's just thin generic plastic and not kydex. People will HAVE to custom form the liner to fit their knives and it will easily break or deform. $20 is a ripoff for a sliver of flatten plastic pvc. I don't think I'm gonna buy another Spec-ops again.

Are you sure they're plastic? They specifically say it's a Kydex liner.

It's also kind of hard to fault them for wanting to charge for a replacement of something the end user modified. I mean, it's great when they do it for free, but IMO that shouldn't be expected.

I hear ya Cpl! Hence why I was up front about it.

I don't know about the liner though, it sure didn't 'act' like Kydex...But I'm no expert! Either way, 20 bucks for it is a little much I think.

it's not kydex. If I'm not mistaken they stopped using kydex because of something to with IR in combat.

Clean: what knife are you taking to him? Might be good to let us know, I. Case anyone else wants a custom kydex sheath for their knives as well.

Let us know how it goes. I like Rob. My BATACLE sheath is great, and the Nuke Badger I sent him for a soldier being deployed came out great as well. He even went out of his way to get the Nuke and the two sheaths back to the guy within a week. Rob's a good guy, and his kydex work is top-notch.

It was kydex when I was buying them and was pretty substantial in my experience. I have had minimal trouble making them fit, and I have pushed them farther than most people posting about it in the past. Too bad they are charging, but as you guys mentioned, I don't blame them.
