A friend has a cane sword made in Toledo in 1908. Last 2 inches of tip was broken and lost. Anyone know of someone who could fabricate and weld on a new tip. Thanks.

I agree, but it is not mine. May end up telling them it is the only option, but promised to try to find someone to do the new tip first.

What material is the blade, stainless?? Is the sword used for actual cutting or just stabbing or show only???

The woman who owns it has been carrying it. Not sure how she intends to use it. From the light surface rust I would say it was a stainless steel, but don't know which. If it were carbon I would expect more rust since it really hasn't been polished or oiled.

I agree that regrinding the tip would be the best idea, if she really wants a new tip on it.

BTW, stainless steel wasn't invented until 1914, so the blade isn't stainless or the date is wrong in some way.

Thanks cerulean. Still waiting for sword forum to send account confirmation. I will post there once I get it.
