here is the deal

in my contry it is illegal to cary even the smallest knife, if it is a fixed blade or if it has a locking mechanism, so basicly, if i get cought with a spyderco cricket, i could find my self in jail (for five years).
this means that i cant take out with me any of my knives (spyderco, MT, kershaw)

so what i am looking for is a pocket knife with a blade of max 3.8 inc, witch can be eazly be opened with one hand, but without a locking mechanism.

any ideas?

Take a look at Spyderco, they have several non locking slipits available that should help you out. Have a look at the Urban and see if that interests you.

Agreed with the previous replies -- Spyderco has a very nice selection of slipjoint (non-locking) knives with opening holes, good steels, excellent ergonomics...basically everything you'd expect from Spyderco, except for a locking mechanism.

Take a look at their catalog page of "Knives Shippable to NY" and see what strikes your fancy. (In case you're curious about the category title, the Manhattan DA has decided that pretty much every one-hand-opening, locking folding knife constitutes a "gravity knife" or "switchblade" (), so some retailers and manufacturers are playing it safe and not shipping any locking folders to New York state. See the Knife Laws forum for a lengthy thread on the subject.)

One Spyderco you might check out is the Terzuola, which has an S30V blade and a carbon fiber handle. I'm intrigued enough by the design and materials that I might pick one up at some point even though I collect locking folders almost exclusively and live in a city whose laws don't compel me to carry a slipjoint.

the new spyderco penknives with the FRN handles sound like they would be what you are looking for, they dont cost too much either. 3 inch blade, no lock.

Check the status of friction folders. As the blade is held open by the pressure of the operators hand against the extended tang, they are generally not considered to be locking. They are also very easily and rapidly opened by the extended tang.

that the funny thing, i live in israel, so you can see alot of fire arms caried around, but a small knife is a problem. and whats worse is that there is a metal ditecter almost in the entrance of every public facility, malls, stores etc, so you cant realy hide the knife.

thanks, you all.
i really like the spyderco Terzuola, i just need to make sure my wife will not find about it.

are there any other companys (beside spyderco) that might have a knife like i want?

Sure aren't many companies that makes one hand openers without locks...
