Ive been thinking of picking one of Robs Short Swords up. Need Opinions. Any ideas where to purchase would be helpful as well.
Thanks

My experience with swords is very limited but I've got a smaller Wakizashi (blade just under 17") and I'm very pleased with it. Definitely a keeper for me. I picked it up used on the forums so I can't steer you toward a dealer. Try a search on Yahoo, I got some good hits when I was checking them out.

Criswell's are awesome. I got a 12in tanto at the Chesapeake Knife Show. It's an awesome, solid piece. I bought mine from Win Heger, he's a great guy to deal with. His email is njedge@aol.com

1. Feels good in the hand.

2. Balance is a little point heavy, and on the smaller of the katana, a little blade heavy.

3. The edge was horrible. Even after sending back to Rob for sharpening, it was still dull. By dull, I mean not capeable of cutting a piece of paper. If that problem is fixed, the sword is a pretty good deal.

My name is Donna W and I'm the Web Mistress of the site Rob is occupying for the long run. He does most of his work here on the property and I try to help him out by printing replies and sticking them in the hole of his coffee cup in the mornings before I leave. If you want that Sword sharpened. Please send it back. He is more than happy to give it the edge you desire.

If you wish, I will give you his post address. P O Box #5878

Donna,

Thank you very much for the kind offer. I was very specific in my letter that accompanied the sword when I sent it back. I figured that this was the edge that Rob did on the sword, and that was that. I traded it(VERY fair trade), and in no way, shape or form should it be inferred that I am saying that Criswell swords are bad. Indeed, I think they are a very good value.

I see them as sort of a "tactical" sword, and that is a field that does not have a lot of contemporaries(Hartsfield, Dawson, and I cannot think of many others, maybe Warren Thomas?). I was simply sharing my experience and observations.

Best Regards,

No harm taken Sir:D

There were a few that might have gone out with less than a full edge because they were asked for that way. He has assured me that any that were shipped that way to the wrong person, would be re sharpened. Now that Rob is back near the City, He will again show up at the Blade West Show 9/2006, and hopefully, there will be a new piece of two to show you.

Sir:

I am new at this board discussion stuff. Please excuse me for posting in the wrong area. I'm a simple Customer Service Girl, trying to touch base for Rob. I will go to the forum and post...Posthaste! ;)

:(

This will have been my second day trying to register to the forum you suggested. It will not allow me to do so. I have emailed the editor and it is in his hands.

I Tried!

Donna, I was not directing my question at you nor was I referring to another board, SwordForums.com. I was asking why this thread, which was about swords, had not been moved by the moderators to the appropriate forum within BladeForums.com. Please, there is no problem with your answering within the thread. Indeed, I thank you. But I am still wondering why this thread has not been moved.

Rob makes good stuff. Great to see him back at it. Will he be at Blade next year in Atlanta? Donna, tell him his cage fighting buddy from GA says "Hello!".

Peace-
Cam

Who cares where it is or where it should be on the boards..I am glad to just get the details. I have wanted a Criswell for years but heard they were no longer being made. Your site is definitely on my bookmarks! Big Criswell fan here!

This thread is four years old. I don't think we even had a Sword Forum here back then, or the ability to move threads.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit ignorance. But I want to thank you for the invite to sit and Sip a while. (Coffee that is)

Irezumi...My Hubbi is a zumi too! Though, I always pronounced it Zoomie!
Jim was a B52 Gunner when I met him at Fairchild AFB. I was a Mere Military Police/ K-9 Handler. I'll print both yours and Orions posts and put on top of the grinder... Rob has this kind of Mental Block when it comes to the computer. I've been making Art and Graphics and Web pages for 10 years. When I offered, He was happy to turn it over to a "veteran".

Blessings:D
