I need someone that owns a knife with M2 steel. I am thinking about getting a mini AFCk with M2 so I need some actual users who have had experience with this steel.

M-2 is a high speed tool steel often found in drill bits IIRC.
I have several knives in this steel and in my experience it is a high performer in the edge holding dept. The only down side to it I've seen so far is the fact that it is not rust resistant.
It takes an edge fairly easily even though it has a high Rc hardness. I use either a Sharpmaker 204 or flat diamond hones, so my opinions about how easy it is to sharpen may not be your experience if you use something like an Arkansas stone to sharpen your blade.
Hope this helps.

All the best,
Mike U.

I've carried a Nimravis Cub in M2 for couple of years and it takes & holds a edge well. Gets scary sharp with a little work but if I ignore it after I use it and forget to wipe it with silicone the edge does rust off. It only takes a couple of swipes to bring it back but still...I do carry it in kydex and between the humidity in the summer and the rain & snow in the winter some moisture probably gets trapped.

Thanks for the response and the thread. This is good to hear. Makes it so much easier now to decide.

have a AFCK in M2, great knife, not hard to sharpen at all (for me anyway) holds a great edge, no problems at all with it...but hey, the AFCK is one of my all tiime favs........

before the 806, it was my EDC for a while, still carry sometimes

get it, ya wont be dissapointed, the AFCK is, imho, one of the best knives around, my favorite design from BM, and in my top 5 all time poduction/custom

try www.newgraham.com, they did have some M2 AFCK's at a good price a while back, they may all be gone now.....

Ditto on the recommendation for the M2 AFCK. I picked one of these up from my friend Ron(Guncollector) a little while back, and it has become my favorite daily carry knife(when I'm not at work in the Govt building). I have owned many AFCKs that were ATS34, and none would get as sharp as this M2 bladed model. M2 rocks!

One disclaimer though. Those older Gerber knives that were made out of M2 had edges that were a little too thick and the blades were maybe a little too hard, because those knive were almost impossible to sharpen. Benchmade seems to have rectified the hardness problem, as my AFCK seems to sharpen quite easily.

I have a Nimravus in M2 and an Ascent in M2, both from Benchmade. They get scary sharp, not hard to sharpen, no rust problems with proper maintenance. Worth the price difference from ATS-34

I own a 710 and 705 with M2. Great knives, easy to sharpen and maintain an edge (w/Edgepro), will rust under certain conditions.

My rust problem revolved around fishing and tucking the blades inside my waders. This highly humid environment caused rust spotting in a matter of only a couple of hours. Now I carry a BM Tether Knife with GIN1 clipped with a Tech Lock to the suspenders of my waders. It much more accessible during actual fishing times. More rust resistant. Doesn't hold an edge as well. Light weight too.

I carry an M2 blade at all times I'm not fishing.
