I'm looking for a knife with two blades, kinda like a stockman or barlow. This is a gift for my dad. He always bought cheap $5 barlows at farmer's markets. This year for Christmas I want to give him a better quality knife. Please note he really works his knives hard. Often sharpens them on a bench grinder (trying to get him away from that habit).

I would appreciate any recommendations. Maximum price of $50, please. Thanks.

Try a Queen slipjoint. Good prices, great quality, and D2 steel what more can I say. I have a cocolobo stockman and it the only slipjoint I like enough to carry daily.

If he prefers two blades in a lock back you might wanna take a look at the Spyderco Mini Dyad.. they're about $45

Get your dad a Queen carved stag bone series Dogleg Jack. The D2 steel has a great reputation, those handles look great, and it's right in your price range (for a few bucks less, you could get the same knife in cocobolo).

Meanwhile, as he's opening this great gift, sneak out to garage and break his bench grinder. :D

Thanks for the replies. Certianly gives me a few ideas as to what to get him. I hate to spend more than $50 in the event he'll loose the knife (which has happened a time or two).
