I see a few iffy things in there that are problematic, at least for me. One, I don't stone wash the blades. I don't have a tumbler anymore or the means to even do that for you.
Two, I cannot texture the G10 like the OEM scales. I don't know of anyone other than factory knives doing that actually although that does not mean it isn't being done by someone.
Also, I have not seen any tan G10 but I guess you have somewhere. I have done some Emersons and I think at least one BenchMade and a couple of my own custom lockback folders in what could maybe be viewed as a tan Micarta but its more of an off yellow color. What it is sold as is Antique linier paper Micarta supposed to be closer to looking like mastodon ivory from what I've been told about it. Perhaps that is what you saw. Here is a pic of one I did a while back for another forum member in the thumbnails below. These two pics of it closed are before I did the finish work and grooving obviously but it can show the color well which is why I selected them. You can click those thumbnails to enlarge them. This resembles G10 a lot but its actually Micarta.
I looked at my supply list and don't see any tan G10 but I have not checked other catalogs so I'm thinking you saw something like this that I or another craftsman did on a knife maybe.
The other thing that is something I'd need to look at closer is that the spacer on that knife or any Emerson for that matter is a thick piece compared to the liners and scales. I remember looking to replace one with a new spacer of titanium once and although the measurements elude my memory currently, I do recall that I did not have a piece thick enough to fill the need and I have some scraps of .160 titanium laying around out there in my shop. So, in all liklihood you are looking at having to purchase a block of two different thickness G10 sheets just for one knife. My supplier sends me 5" x 12" sheets in various thicknesses so it seems like a lot of material to have to purchase for just a single knife. Not that this is unique, I've seen many do it and do the same with a full sheet of titanium also. I'm just letting you see it from the stand point of the material needs to do it from some vendors.
I do however have plenty of that Antique linier paper in 1/8" thickness left if that is what you are speaking of.
If you are wondering why I'm trying to determine so much detail for a simple job let me add that my lungs and G10 dust do not go together well due to my asthma and I have a slight allergy to the dust so I try to time using that or G11 for days when I can turn on the fans, open the barn doors and vent the shop very well while wearing my respirator so I typically do whatever I can to avoid a lot of sanding or plaining of that material at all cost. In other words I am not too interested in buying a block 3/8" thick to have to cut and flat sand it down to the final thickness if I can find it very close to what is called for.
The job pictured above was scales only. These run anywhere from $85 on up to $120 depending on material and the amount of shaping, thumb grooving and time. I have not priced a spacer but I don't expect it would take too long or add much once the material is found in the proper thickness.
I hope that helps to give you a ball park idea.
Thanks for asking and feel free to look around, and ask questions. There are picture galleries to my work in the link to my home page as well as here on my forum showing a small sample of some of what I've done for members knives over the last few years. One album comes up right away and you can click the STRprojects link to see the other one once there if interested.
