For the past 4-5 years I've been using a "Jaguar" brand knife as my EDC and now I'm looking for something new.

My preferences are:
- 3" or smaller blade length
- Non-serrated
- Made in the USA Preferred
- Price $55 but willing to increase for the quality.

Thank you in advance.

BTW, Benchmade makes some nice knives, but they aren't necessarily "better" than Kershaw or Spyderco. For some reason they've gotten the reputation of a luxury brand, but that's mostly advertising and a few business decisions made to increase exclusivity.

I would go for a kershaw scallion, leek, or skyline. all will be under 55 bucks, will work for a long time to come, and are decent steel. i have no knowledge of any of them being made outside of the USA. i have owned a skyline and have held more then a few leeks and skylines, and i must say that I like all three very much. take all our recommendations, write them down, and go to a knife store. try all of them out. good steel is nice, but if you will never carry it, then there is no point.

Can't go wrong with a mini-grip. Axis lock vs liner lock? No contest.

I'd go with a Kershaw Skyline or OD-1. I have them both and they keep knocking more expensive stuff right out of my pocket!

I've been EDC'ing a Benchmade 530 recently. I have to say I've really enjoyed it. First off I find it very aesthetically please. A minor bonus but something I like. Second it's super light. Almost to the point where it doesn't feel flimsy but that's hardly the case. I've put it through the daily ringer and it has held up just fine. It's sharp as hell and the axis lock is so solid. A few bucks more than what you're criteria is but the quality of benchmade has continually reinforced its reputation. I'm definitely not an expert but just thought I'd chime in. Good luck with your search.
