Need recommendations on who can refinish my TGLB.

I just got a TGLB and the previous owner stripped the blade but left most of the handle area coated.

I do not want the handles taken off but I need the rest of the coating removed, the talon holes polished inside to help protect from rusting, and then the whole blade refinished. Just a semi satin finish.

I also need the edge thinned out and sharpened.

I can’t afford razor edge knives or AZTim at the moment so looking for other options.

Thanks in advance.

I got a quote from AZTim but it was more than I can afford right now.

Anyone have any other options?

Any type of scouring pad that I could use with some mag polish to clean it up myself if I had to ?

Let’s see what it looks like—my guess is you’ll be able to do it yourself.

Sweet knife. I’d hand sand it—start with 400 grit and work your way up from there. I’ve used a cloth wheel on my bench grinder too, one I’ve sanded it. If your intention is to use it, I think you’ll be fine.

Sharpening it is different. How do you usually handle it? INFI responds really well to diamond stones (dmt); if you prefer, however, Busse will resharpen your knife—you just have to cover the shipping. They’ll likely thin the edge a little too if you ask nicely.

I’ve already asked them to thin out the edge when I ordered my forsaken steel heart which they didn’t.

Someone else basically told me it was dumb to request that they thin it out. Maybe because it would take them to long and they have so many others to do?

I don’t know.

As far as hand sanding I don’t have the skills for that. I’m afraid it would end up looking like crap. LoL

I learned how to convex because of Busse. It is much easier than you think starting out.

Part of the issue with Busse and having them modify it, is they are so busy making orders. With the custom shop closed to new orders! They just have so much work.

You could also reach out to forum member “Ndocyk” he refinishes blades. I’ve seen his work and it’s super nice.

I’d say use and enjoy it, save up some cash for AzTim to refinish it.
Here’s my SJTAC, it was new unused with black coating. After AzTim it looks like this.

Duramax beat me to it lol! Save up and send it in to someone.

I have a couple from Josh at REK. He is worth the money and you will not be disappointed! They come back like a completely different but better blade!

That would be a piece of cake to do but I only do my own. If it was me I'd take off the slabs and make it look like chrome! especially that particular blade, it could come out looking like sweet! but AZTim would be my first choice for what you are wanting to do. And of course Josh is top shelf which goes without saying from the work he's done on others stuff.
