I am thinking about a new neck knife, and am leaning towards a REKAT Fang, or Utility .

The main use would be general utility use--what ever that is! Just every day knick knack stuff I guess. The curved handle on the Fang is kind of interesting looking, but maybe it's one of those things that look cool, untill you go to use it.

Anyone have both, and have the pro's and con's of them?

Also is there something out there in this price class that I am maybe overlooking?

Thanks

I have both. The UNK is more suited for general utility whereas the fang is more towards defensive measures, IMO. The fangs drop handle and index area makes it surer in the grip for thrusting but makes the knife feel a bit different than what most folks are used too for general cutting. The UNK has file work on the spine and the index finger area but doesn't feel as sure for thrusting.

Chiro did a very good review on neck knives awhile back. The fang was part of that review. He gave his opinion about cutting abiities and various other attributes.

I have a Fang, and I really like the curved handle. It's really a great knife, I would advise buying one before they're all gone. Or you could simplify your choice between the 2 even more; just get one of each.

I have the Fang and the Utility, and between them favor the Utility for real use.The curved handle of the Fang, although the main attraction for some folks, is a little awkward for me in real cutting tasks. Try to handle both before deciding.

i also bought both and sold the fang... the handle felt very cramped in the curved handle and i have normal sized hands... i like the utility.. i carried it as my primary knife for months but it took me quite a while to get the edge bevels correct so that it could get shaving sharp.
just my opinion but go for the utility.

I have been carrying the Dozier neck knife for last 4 month - and it's one hell of a knife. Excellent blade geometry, the best kydex in the business (IMHO) and excellent D2 steel.

For 150$ - I don't think you can beat that - and it's a real custom knife.

Another option - although I can't say I handled it - is the blackwood neck knife - that looks awesome:
