Hi all, thanks for the help in the previous Chinook versus Gunting, I am intrigued by the new titanium handled Bob Lum folder. It looks mighty tough and sleek. Can anyone tell what is the liner made of and how thick is it?

The funny thing I realised about liner locks is that those made from titanium seems to wear faster, for example, my Emerson versus the CRKT M16. However, titanium liners seem to lock in deeper than stainless steel liners. After playing around with a couple of folders, I found that liner thickness is not as important as the lock up, what do you guys think?

By the way, I like the symbol on the Bob Lum knives, I share the same surname with him, so getting that knife is already a personalisation for me.

Bad news, Blizzard. The Ti Lum is already discontinued. It's been re-handled in G-10 to make it more economically accessible to the teeming masses. If you can find a Ti one, though, it's a terrific, elegant workhorse of a knife. Try to find a specimen from later in the production run, as some tweaking was done, including improvement on the lock, which I believe to be stainless.

I have one of the Ti Lums available for sale. I have had it for a few months and have found that the lockup is excellent, action is smooth. very well done

i too have a lum ti tanto, #445, exhibits excellent lock up, and the knife is the ONLY tanto i would EVER consider for EDC as my one and only knife - i really like them, much better than the emerson CQC7 i traded for it - and the chinese characters on the blade mean forest i think - if ya like the looks, dont worry the performance is right up there......

New ? I have seen the Ti version in 1998 !!!

They were the first to be prototyped/produced

G10 followed

I have one and I carry it everyday, the blade on mine has only 1 very minor nick and the handle scratches well (the scratches don't look bad) since my keys pass by it. I love the knife and the lock feels really great, the blade shape is awesome and you can switch it from tip up to tip down (or vice versa). Great knife IMO and well worth it!!!! :)
