Here's a strange batch of choices, but I want one of the following:

A) Kabar, black USMC Fighting knife with kydex sheath, OR
B) Spyderco Native with CPM440V blade, OR
C) CRKT Kowlpowski/Kasper Companion plus a Camillus Cuda ArcLite

Forget about "what do you want to use it for?" and "handle them and see what feels right".

If you were faced with this choice, would it be A, B or C ?

BTW, if you feel strongly about either A, B or C, feel free to motivate why you would pick that option over the others

If you want a folder, Spyderco Native.
- looks cool
- CPM440V blade

If you want a fixed blade, look some more.

A full-size utility/fighter, a small folder, a neck knife...? An eclectic choice, to be sure.

What are you going to use it for? If you want a pocket knife, I would not suggest the KaBar.

If you want to camp in the woods, the Native would probably be the last choice.

I know this is none of the given options, but that are now my every day carry knives, or in other words, my urban suvival kit.

Companion (self-defense) and Native (utility), a good combination!

Go with c). I just received a CUDA ArcLite (decent neck knife for a great price) and have a P/K Companion (alot of knife/sheath for the money) on its way.

I too would select option c.

Foremost, it is two knives. That automatically provides one with greater flexibility. Both the knives are quite concealable. Both can fairly be called both tactical and utilitarian. You can live your knife life without pockets. Both steels easy to sharpen. You get two chains to play with and some 550 cord to boot.

Drawbacks -- neither steel is regarded as able to hold an edge a particularly long time, unlike the Native. Not effective killing/stabbing weapons, like the KaBar.

Did I win?

I would pick the Native.
The Ka-bar is just impractical, the other two aren't up to the same quality as the Native.
I think the Native is better in utility than choice C and as good as C in self-defense (the need for self defense in itself is a rare thing to occure)
The Native would out-cut any of those other knives and is easier to carry.

A very diverse group, but I would take the native for all around use. One of my all time favorites.

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.

The random number generator in my Excel spreadsheet says 0.2457234898. Oops, now it says 0.44898236764.

So I'd go with the Wild Iberia SOCKF Foaming Dogtooth tac folder in San Mai w/ CPM229V core.

Speedrck, I only earn S.A. Rands, that's worth about 1/8 of your Dollars, so there's no way to get them all.

After much deliberation I've decided to go with Spyderco, but I've changed my selection to the Harpy. I know, I know, I can get a CPM440V blade with the Native, but logic does not always prevail in these selections

Yeah, that's it...not the Kabar or the Native, or the Kowlpowski (sic), but the Harpy... that's the ticket. Gosh, why didn't any of us think to recommend the Harpy?

Enjoy.
