I'm wondering what the best method is to sharpen my production CQC7-A. Am I better served with traditional stones or with a Sharpmaker type system? Also, are there any tricks to sharpening that I need to know. I've never sharpened a knife before so I'm kind of in the dark here. Which grit of stone is the most similar to the original Emerson factory one? I'd like to keep it as similar as possible. Thanks.

I use a spyderco double stuff sharpener. Start with coarse side, depending on how dull the blade is will determine how much pressure to apply to the blade while running it on the sharpener. Then move to fine side and finish off edge with light pressure. You will have a fine wire on the flat side of the blade, use a piece of leather or cardboard on back side of a legal tablet, to strop the fine wire. Hope this helps.Chisel ground blades are fairly easy to sharpen.
