Need sharpening in MD

Hi guys!

I live in the central MD area, and would love to find someone reliable to sharpen my ASH, which appears to have an asymmetrical edge. I used it to hack some small trees down, and would love to get it back to razor sharpness.

Anybody in this area someone would recommend? Failing that, maybe somebody by mail? I would much rather do it ftf than any other way, if at all possible.

What methods have you tried? Or are you just not very good at sharpening (real question some people just arent). I sharpen my knives and I live just south of BMORE but I usually use the sandpaper/mousepad method and then strop them. On some of the smaller ones I use the sharpmaker and just put a V grind on em. The ASH's should have a convex edge. I think mine come out ok but if you want a sweet job done I'd say contact someone like Horton, Ban, Richard_J. They all do GREAT work. I know HornDog also puts a mean edge on a knife but I dont know if he does it for others.

Go over to the makers forum, go into Horton Knives and PM or Email "Horton". If you want the platinum plus zero edge that is...... Last I heard Ban Tang was very busy.

Horton did my ASH, and it is scary sharp.:thumbup: A .32" that shaves hair and cuts curly-Qs is awesome. You can beat on it all day, and then just strop it for a minute and your back to razor sharp.:thumbup:

Just checked in from work to see if anyone had a chance to respond, and saw this veritable avalanche of assistance. Thanks so much to everybody, and I'll probably be contacting Horton or richardj when I get home.

To answer the original question from Barrabus, you're right, I just don't do a good job. I'm fine putting my smaller Benchmades, etc. on the Sharpmaker, but for anything more complicated than that, I'm at a loss.
