my new benchmite is sharper than my new sebenza. that's not right...would ceramic sticks do the trick for the sebbie or is there one better?

Whose ceramic sticks? Are you talking about the kind you hold in your hand, or those for, say, a Spyderco Sharpmaker?

BTW, I don't use the Sharpmaker anymore. Far too many knives come with edges that are not set up to be sharpened on that exact angle. If your knife's edge is ground so that it is not along the stone when you hold the blade vertically, then the Sharpmaker is more hassle than solution.

I learned to sharpen freehand on a Profile, and I use that with very very excellent results. I just recently bought a much larger (well, much *wider*) Spyderco Ceramic Whet Stone, and it's even *better*. Combined with a coarse DMT Dia-sharp (got a tiny one but really want a larger one), for taking off major metal (and they weren't kidding when they said here that you could remove a lot of metal with diamonds), I am getting really good edges. The aforementioned Spyderco C.W.S. is big enough to handle stuff like my BK&T Combat Utility 7". Get one!
