I just bought a Cold Steel Finn Hawk and so far I am liking it! Similar to my Mora's. The sheath retention is way better than the Mora's, but it is so good, that getting it out is a workout. There is no way to thumb press the knife out of the sheath. I am thinking about heating up the sheath and making a lip to give my thumb a place to push against.
Anyone have any tips to keep me from butchering this mod.?
Thanks,
Dave

Ive modded a few sheaths. Is it plastic, kydex, glass filled nylon? Everything reacts differently to heat. Kydex type will soften nicely, some others may not.

You have to be carful to not over heat the sheath and make it lose any form. Can be a little tricky. You might be better off evenly heating the sheath slowly and take the knife in and out to create slight looseness in the overall retention.

The sheath is plastic. I was thinking about putting just the one end in hot water to soften it, and move it with my fingers slowly.

As you can see, no place for thumb to rest to push the sheath off.

Not sure of hot water is hot enough. Is there enough material? That sheeath looks like it might be tricky
