I'm giving serious consideration to getting involved with concealed carry, and I'd like to do it with a shoulder holster rather than something inside the waistband. I've already got enough stuff riding on my belt without adding a pistol.

The problem is that I don't know what a good brand is. I'm looking for something that carries a pistol horizontally rather than vertically under one arm, and magazines under the other. But as I said, I don't know what a good brand is.

Google a maker named High Noon Holsters. I'd provide a link but that would construe as deal spotting.

He makes two types of shoulder rigs, one that is formed to the gun, the other that is more pancake style but will also form to the gun to a degree. I use the latter, but in an OWB configuration. He makes holsters for most makes and models.

I'd suggest trying one if you can, with weapon and mags, before you commit to it. I carried that way for a while and found that I didn't like it. I never got used to having the weight hanging off my upper body, the holster was constantly getting in the way when I was trying to move around and do the normal things I do when I'm out, and I didn't like having to wear some kind of jacket or outer shirt, even a light one, in hot weather.

Plenty of people love 'em, and you might, too, but it can't hurt to try it first, if that's possible for you.

I agree with Dale. Trying them on because not all shoulder holsters ride or 'feel' the same.

I have a Galco as well as a Safariland for my .45.

The Safariland is by far, the better built holster but the Galco just 'feels' better and actually prefer it to the more expensive one.

Ive got an El Paso Saddle "Tanker" holster I where while working around outside. I love it.
Its not for concealed carry, but its hard to hide a full size beretta anyway.

Make sure it's fully adjustable so it will fit you properly ! Some people shouldn't use a shoulder holster -- barrel chested and short arms.
