NEED small 4'' fixed blade

What price range are you thinking about?

At any price I would suggest a Roselli; great thin edges, spine, comfortable handle, decent sheath, and good steel. You don't get a whole lot of fit and finish, but you do get a great cutting tool that is comfortable to use.

I think a Roselli, Opinel, and a GB is a great combination, you can handle most camping hiking situation with this rig...

Let us know some more details and we'll be able to guide you to your knife :).

~good details to know would be; intended use, natural or synthetic handle material, stainless or carbon (if you ask me carbon is the only steel ;)), sheath, etc...

price range would be from 0 to 70

There are a lot of good 4" knives in your price range, but the one that I thought of right away was the Spyderco Moran Drop point....

Swamp Rat Howling Rat, Schrade Sharpfinger or a good quality Loveless-style drop-point hunter.

A couple of ideas:

Go to RagweedForge.com and look at Helle.

Look at Bark River Highland (.150 x 4" 2.8oz) I got mine for $57.99 at KnifeWorks.

Good hunting.

spend closer to $100 and get a BM Nimravus cub. 3.65 " I think, and around 4oz. Light and compact for a fixed blade.

Lots of great knives in that price range.

A Mora 2000 can be had for 30.00 or so and is an excellent blade.

The Frost Mora Swedish Army knife is another good one as are many of the other Mora blades and you can buy several of them for your max price range.

The BRKT line of knives are excellent, but require some care in wet climates.

According to a few bushcrafters on theBushcraftuk site, Allan Blade of Blade Cutlery is supposed to build an excellent line of knives that offer very good value for price and they are made here in the USA.

Helle makes a very nice knife.

Well both Frosts and Eriksson make a good small fixed blade for the money. The quality of the knives for the money make thm ard to beat but the others mentioned here are good selections as well it all depends on your bdget but at the prices they have for the Swedes its easy to pick up just one more.

Wow, I've got about 30 different knives that fit that role!

I would say those on the higher end are:

Dozier knives

There's some really good custom and semi-custom knives that are great, but there's a lot of quality knives in the mid-range such as:

Swamp Rat Knife Works, as already mentioned.

Fallkniven

DH Russell/Grohmann

Helle Knives from Ragweedforge

That Mora 2000 is another great deal for an excellent, "cheap" and small camping/wilderness knife M2K

Another great bunch of knives are from Bark River Knives such as the Hunter/Highland

Cold Steel makes the reputable Master Hunter in Carbon V...a decent knife.

A lot of choices, both in design and price. There's also a lot of good offerings from the major companies (check the Knifecenter on some of the links above) like:

Benchmade
Kershaw
Spyderco
Outdoor Edge
Marbles

You'll get a lot of good opinions here...you may need to include a price range, and type of wilderness useage (i.e. is it the only knife? Augmenting a SAK? Paired with an axe? Do you want to baton with it?).

Or for about the same price get a bit more punch with the 4.5 in. Nimravus. Light, strong, and SHARP.

Rock6 You mentioned Helle which I looking at Are their many other good dealers beside from RagweedForge. Why did you say Helle From Ragweed? Is he the only good seller of the Helle line of knives

There are other sellers.

Another contact I have just recently changed hands. I havn't done business with the new owners.

They can be contacted at:

Ive Heard People Say that the Only Quality Helle Knives are from Ragweedforge.com

Ragweeds Helles are $70
I could get it From Knife Center For $59 Quality Would be the same right?

Another vote for the Bark River Highland. I don't hav one yet (it IS on the list), but it sure looks to be a great value!

Ragweed's got a great site overall for quality, inexpensive knives of that type. Helle is just a brand and can be found other places...a lot of the "nordic" type knives are excellent wilderness knives, just a different flavor. I will say, he's got some of the best service around though.
