I am looking for a small gear bag to use on short day hikes and to throw some gear in during the summer time when I have on shorts without a bunch of pockets. I have checked out some threads and looked at a few bags but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a bag big enough to hold a few items like a phone, wallet, small pistol, possibly a bottle of water and a few other items. I don't really want a back pack or duffel bag as those are too big for what I'm looking for and I don't want anything too over the top. I would prefer one that is water proof and very durable. I would appreciate any recommendations you might have and pics would be great if you have any on hand. Thanks in advance for the input.

Get a maxpidition fatboy versipak. I use mine for exactly what your talking about. Very durable, super well made. I love mine.

Looks like a nice bag. I almost ordered one to make a jump bag for my medical stuff to keep in the truck, but I was unsure of the quality.

I have a Maxpedition Colossus, which is similar to the jumbo versipack, but designed the way it should be. Holds a surprisingly large amount of stuff. I have a med kit, paracord, 2-3 ways to make fire, light, multitool, knife, gloves, cap, bandana, space blanket, bug dope, sunscreen, sharpening stuff, pen and paper, whistle, and it has a special CCW section. I also attached a small roly-poly on the side which fits a 32oz. Nalgene bottle nicely. And... there's still room for more.

If you just want a small bag to organize daily carry items, look at the Spec-Ops Brand Pack Rat.

It was designed as an insert/organizer for a larger pack. If you want to carry it on its own, you'll need to add a strap.

Nice bag. I've been meaning to get by the military surplus store to pick up a bag similar to the one on County Comm:

I like the Cheaper Than Dirt one though. Looks a bit less like a purse.

You can hang a few attachments off that MOLLE webbing to cut the man-purse look, or you can opt for the Bail Out Bag which has a velcro-closed compartment for your pistol.

One of the mountain smith bags. Can wear as a fanny pack or it has a shoulder strap. Sheeple friendly. Use mine all the time.

Visit an army surplus if possible. I picked up an "Knockoff" Israeli ammo bag at one.
