or perhaps your opinions.
Backstory: I inherited the knife thing apparently from my grandad as it wasnt my dad's thing (he's an old gear head:D) he never really much cared for stuff like guns, knives, etc, etc. Now for the last few years he's gifted me My case cv Amber bone large stockman, my yeller medium stockman and a yeller CV trapper.
So me thinks he's a closet knife guy:) or maybe all my blathering has piqued his interest, not sure. But a few times he's raved about a yeller peanut, now i havent received a yeller peanut yet, so in my blockhead i figure he's throwing it out there, fishing for a yeller peanut.:D
What do you guys think???
I think it might make a great christmas gift!:D Now i know the Cult of Peanut guys would approve, but what about the rest of you guys? Ever buy a knife for a non-knife friend/relative?
Is a peanut a good one? i mean its a nice size and lord knows some of you guys love 'em
;)
thanks
ivan

Hard to go wrong with gifting a knife like that peanut.

First and most important it's a gift from you. Secondly, it's useful and each time it's used it will bring good memories along with it. Plus it's a little classic and easy to carry under most any circumstance.

I say go for it!

(And yes, I've bought knives for lots of non-knife addicted friends. I've yet to meet the man who doesn't appreciate getting a pocket knife as a gift.)

I gave a CV Sodbuster to one of my family members who had never even said the word knife. He now tells me it never leaves his pocket, and has no idea what he did before he had one. I say get your Dad one and see what happpens.

Blues is the man...he said it good

Rejoice! If your dad's anything like my dad, he's really tough to buy gifts for. So all you have to do now is pick one up, you lucky SOB! :p

If he's raved about a yellow peanut, then I say go for it. It will mean something to him whether he EDC's it or not.

If you are a knife nut, you gotta spread the good word. Gift knives are almost as fun to buy as one for yourself. Yes, you have to, end of story.

yes they are, and thank god for him gifting my 3 Case knives over the last couple years, take those out and i'm left with a CV soddie which is the only one i bought on my dime:D my tiny collection would be virtually case-less with out him!
thanks

nice to hear it from like minded people:thumbup: Now lets just hope i can control myself and keep it at just buying a gift for my dad and not walking out with something for me:D
thanks again

I think your dad just may be the non knife guy who does know that it's handy to have a sharp cutting tool now and then. In fact, he may be the guy I always wondered about when I was young. I'd see the old guys with the little pen knife and wonder why carry a small knife like that.

I've long since relized that the non knife knut knows he needs a sharp tool now and then, so he carries a little thing that disappears in a pocket untill he needs it. The non knife person does not want to be bothered by either the bulk or weight of a large or even medium knife, so he carries a little pen knife size tool. I took a long time to figure that out about my dad and Uncle Paul, and the other non knife people I've known that carry things like Victorinox classics, peanuts, and Eisenhaur pen knives.

The peanut may be just the thing for a gearhead to open car parts packages, strip the insulation off the end of a wire, or some other job that needs to be done. I have a friend who's a car mechanic, and he loves the little keychain size knives. He's not a knife knut, but he needs to open things, get the shrink wrap plastic off new brake rotors, stuff like that. He just needs a small sharp blade several times a day.

Even a non knife guy will appretiate a yella peanut.

Go ahead and get something nice for yourself... You deserve it:D

Absolutely... If he mentions one knife in particular, like the yeller peanut,
I'm guessin he would really like to get one...

For gifts, I always try to get whatever it is that people hint at because everyones tastes are different.

The Peanut is a perfect gift. The little ACE Hardware here usually sells out of them around Christmas time and in May-June (graduation time). I bought my son a Sodbuster Jr. from them recently because they didn't have any Peanuts. They're useful enough that any guy will usually love having one, and most women think they're 'cute'. It's one of the best, if not THE best, people-friendly patterns, IMO.

thx - cpr

ps - I hate it when my wife calls my knives 'cute', except for my Peanut patterns.
