Gentlemen. Its been very tough. Ive been flip flopping on what to get and have my buddy bring to me here in Kenya in late April. I want to thank you for your help and advice, it was all heeded. I finally narrowed down a few that I liked. I still wanted a GEC. Just something about them really struck my interest. I narrowed it down to a trapper. I like the blade shapes and overall look. I remember my granddad had one as well. I also wanted stainless. Being in my location I think its the best decision. I found exactly that at (http://oldhundredcollectibles.com Thanks Bob!) :). I emailed Bob and he said he's been following my posts here so that was awesome! Its really a small world. So Im going to order the GEC Scout Trapper with pioneer bone in 440c, its just a tad over my budget but still a great price. Anyway, like always I will post up a thread when I get it. It will be a while, thats just part of living on the other side of the world! Thanks again guys. -Caleb:thumbup:

thank guys, it will be a long wait but Im sure it will be worth it! Does anyone know what is meant by "Pioneer Bone"? I like the look just not sure how it got the name.

The trapper pattern is very useful. Great choice, now enjoy the wait!

I told you so Caleb! LOL. Pioneer Bone is just a name that GEC gave to that particular finish they use on the bone. It is a little bit textured, not entirely smooth, and died to look somewhat "aged". It is a less expensive version of their Primitive Bone, which is cattle bone that has been in the gound for up to 60 years and gets coloring from the minerals in the soil.

Cool, thanks for the info! AND YES YOU DID, RMA100, lol. I really think it will serve the purpose of an edc knife. I cant wait to have it in my hands!

I'm sure you'll be pleased with your new haul, GEC stainless is very desirable.

Now the ghastly wait begins :D

Thanks, Will

Can you post a pic from Old Hundred Collectibles' site of the 73? BTW, my favorite pattern, great score. You will not be disappointed.

The wait is tough. I usually only have to wait no more than a few weeks, I still pay by money orders, but several months? I would climb the walls.

Nice choices, I predict you will be very impressed with both knives. I also think going stainless was a wise choice based on your location. You'll have to post some pics of the knives out in the wild when they arrive.

im not sure if this will work but heres a link to it.

Thanks a lot for posting the pic! Im not really the type to collect knives and have them sit so I will be using these knives a lot. I will post pictures for sure when they arrive. The 01 steel on the bullnose wont be as corrosion resistant but I hope it takes a nice patina. Thanks again guys!

Looks great!
