I am really considering getting a Terror Monkey Battle Mistress but have a few questian for you folks that know more than I. How does the 3/16 thickness affect its performance as a slicer/ chopper? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this thickness when compared to a regular Battle Mistress. How is the strength of the blade affected by the decrease in thickness? How do they feel in the hand? Are they more of a chopper or a fighter? Please give me any info you can.

Also, what handle style is this?

I think he was linking to his email picture and yahoo prevents that. Peter, you may want to look into a photo hosting site ;)

Sorry about that. Could you please help me witht the other questians? I will try and fix the photo problem. I really appreciate your help on the matter.

Email me the pic peter... my addy is in my profile. Not sure which handle you are talking about. IIRC, the TM had 3 different style handles. With anything, if you thin it, it'll decrease the strength. I have a friend that uses a 3/16" BM and is extremely pleased with it. He chops, slices, etc... Everything with it. He especially likes the weight. Not too heavy

Really? Addict....
Please let me know (or anyone) what the 3 were.
I thought there were only 2, e handle, and modified lumpy e handle.

Maybe I was wrong... When they were up, I wasn't all there. I'll go double check myself ;)

Okay... Back now. All I could find out was that the pic I originally saw was hosted by PORKERSON!!! and now is gone. Maybe there was only two handles. The world may never know.

Hey.. not to hijack the thread, but do the chicks that cook bacon deliver to Atlanta? You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'? :D ;)

Peter,

I cannot comment on actually using a 3/16" thick large blade, but I have used a 1/4" SH BM for chopping both small and large branches (up to about 6" thick), and especially for any heavier chopping, I would much prefer the extra weight of the 1/4" thick blade. For heavier work, it is surprising how small a SH BM seems, as compared to just handling one in the house and looking at it along with smaller knives.

I would let your anticipated usage guide your decision on 3/16" vs. 1/4". If you expect to do a fair amount of heavier chopping (and assuming you will not have an axe or saw), definitely go with the thicker blade. If slicing and/or lighter chopping will be the main use, then the 3/16" blade should do well. Assuming the same style of blade grind and same edge geometry, a thinner blade will be a better slicer, although changing the edge angle on a thicker blade can improve its slicing ability (you can get the edge too thin for heavy work though); read some of Cliff Stamp's reviews for more info on this (http://www.physics.mun.ca/~sstamp/knives/reviews.html). I would not be very concerned about the strength of the 3/16" blade. I really like how a SH BM feels in my medium size hands.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I emailed KAAK the pictures of the knife as well as a close-up of the handle.

No problem... peter, can you re email them only not in word pad. Havin' trouble with it. If you can, just upload the pics to email. None of my programs want to copy and paste the pics.

Sorry don't worry about it. I think it is a standard E handle anyways. Thanks for the effort. Whenever I try attaching directly to the email it just says I have perofrmed an error.
