Hey all,

I have a set of three W.R. Case and Sons Texas Toothpick and was needing some advice. The set is in a wood box with a glass front both in excellent (never opened) it includes a letter of authenticity. It is a limited run of 500 mine is number 403. The set contains Rogers Corn Cob Jigged dark red bone (large Toothpick) model 610098, Rogers Corn Cob Jigged burnt white bone (medium Toothpick) model 610094, and Rogers Corn Cob Jigged Navy blue bone (tiny Toothpick) model 610096. All models say SS I'm not sure if that is for surgical steel or stainless steel. They are serial number marked 403 and have scroll work on the bolsters.

Any who, I was wanting to see if anyone knew anything about that run, I looked around and the only one I could find online was the tiny toothpick.
Thanks,
Mason

"SS" is stainless steel.
Case has used 420HC, which they call "Tru-Sharp", as their stainless at least since the 90's. I've never heard of them using any other stainless than 420HC as their standard stainless. They have occasionally used other stainless alloys on special runs, but those are always well marked.

Thanks for that, it is marked on the certificate of authenticity 05/07 so I'm guessing that's May of 2007. Do you have any idea if it is collectable or not?

Haha v

Hahaha very true. Thanks again for all your help
Case has, over the years, produced many sets like that with the limited edition low-count runs, serial numbered and scrolled bolsters, in those boxes.

For people into Case knife set collecting, they are certainly collectible, and may or may not be desired by some Case collector out there somewhere.

If you don't get more answers here, you can always contact Case directly and ask about the history of your knife set. http://www.wrcase.com/support/contact/

Photographs of the set, as well as readable photos of the tang stamps showing the Case logo and any stars and dots, will help in identifying the year of manufacture and perhaps some other identifying markings that could help someone at least tell you the name of what you have there.

With a run of only 500, it might be one of the limited sets they offer directly to their Case Collectors Club members a few times a year.

Or apparently it is this, which was sold by dealers. This is an old pic. GPKnives is not showing it still in stock.
