I am going to Louisiana Monday to see the New Orleans Saints play. I have never been to a NFL game or stadium and I dont know what the laws are on carrying a pocket knife in the stadium or in the state. Can anyone tell me or help me with this? Thanks.

If it's anything like Gillette stadium I'd say leave it at home. The security there are complete a**holes.

I'll second that. Security at any big money event (football, concerts, etc.) can be quite tough. I've seen everything from security just looking people up and down (could have concealed a KA-BAR at those places) to having people turn out their pockets. Since it's a privately-owned venue they can have security do pretty much whatever they want. It'd be a shame to get kicked out (and possibly banned) for something that small, so I agree with just leaving it at home.

On a side note, I'm a bit jealous. Being from Minnesota, I'm a Vikings fan (even through this rough season :() but I do like the Saints. Drew Brees is an amazing QB, especially since he's only 6 ft. tall.

Last time I was there (for a college bowl game, not a pro game) they had signs saying that weapons, and they specifically listed knives, as being prohibited. They also had individual security inspection. However, they were just going thru the motions as my son walked right in with a Spyderco Nomad clipped in his hip pocket in full view. That being said, there is no way I would risk it.

As far as the state, he wandered around for three days with the same arrangement and no one ever said a word to him.

Hi Wildone39 -

At Soldier Field, they do a quick "pat down".

I routinely take my Vic waiter and a SOG flash 1 (the smaller one) into games with me.

best regards -

I just cant stand not having a knife on me. I may take one that I dont care about losing and just risk it. Thanks guys.

My experiences in Cincinnati at pro games, college games, and concerts are just like the post above. Sometimes there's a quick pat down, most times they just have you show whats in your pockets.

I just leave the knife in the bottom of my pocket, most times. Never had an issue with it. Just make sure that it doesn't "print" (look obvious) really bad. Sometimes I'll slip it down into my shoe instead. That's what I did when UC was playing Oklahoma this year at Paul Brown Stadium. They were giving pat downs that would have made the TSA proud.

I've always got my knife with me. Always.

Just found out the answer to my question. No knives period. Man this Country has become full of sheep. Its just a friggin pocket knife.

I always slip mine behind my wallet in my back pocket if I end up at an event giving patdowns but if I see a wand I'll go put it back in the car !!! I had a Vic classic confiscate of my keys once !!!! I couldn't believe it , come on a classic ! Are you serious !!!!

If its anything like they do at the Steelers games I would leave it at home. They do patdowns at the gate when I attended the games there.

Guess Im S.O.L on the having "a knife in my pocket all the time" Idea but I guess Ill just have to get by with not having it. Thanks again guys. I guess they can take anything they want from a person now a days and get away with it. I will leave it in the car and after this, I will not attend anymore Pro Games or Fly or anything else that requires me not to have my knife on me. I served my Country and fought a war and I hate being treated like a 2 yr old in a day care. This is not right.

i don't pay much attention to policies. no metal detector = no problem (to me). heck, i've been wanded, by security, while wearing a BM 710 and a BM Nimravus. how they missed that i'll never understand :D

that said, the only sportin events i've attended were in FL and i was carrying more than a knife hehe

I hear ya zignal zero, good for you. I think I am gonna take my chances and just try to carry a small pocket knife and if they get it then it wont hurt me other than my pride. I will take something on the cheaper side. You never know, I may get by with no problems.

I have one of these, looks harmless, very handy. Happy New Year to everyone :)

Now I'm not saying you should do this, but anywhere I go that does not permit knives I clip the knife inside my waistband right in front by the button and zipper, then I put my belt on with the buckle covering the clip. I've never had a problem at a bunch of different stadiums.

I won't mention my college team in light of what I am about to say, but I can't stand the thought of being without a knife in a true emergency. I always take my Swamp Rat Rat Tramp into my college's stadium, although forbidden. I wear a pair of heavy Browning boot socks and clip it into the top of my left sock. I have done this ever since they asked me what was the bulge in my pocket, and I had to carry my knife back to the car.
