How do you clean the stropping compound from the coating on your Becker? Its my BK15 and I used it to carve the Turkey and The compound won't wash off with dish soap and a sponge. I do use it for food prep. Any suggestions? I like the coating, but maybe this is where I say goodbye to it.

You can take some light grit sand paper and smith out the coating, that way it's still there but it won't collect as much hunk and will be easier to clean

Clean the compound off right away after stropping. I find it's harder after letting it stand a while. It'll wipe right off if you do it right away. I would use heat to soften it up again. Maybe let it sit in hot water for a little while. Use CLR to clean off any rust, or patina on the edge. The CLR might help with the compound, too. Then re-wash with soap and water.

Since it sounds like you are considering stripping the blade, I say go for it! Leave the coating on under the scales, strip the blade, patina, and oil with mineral oil. Then you will be all about food prep!
