Hey everyone I need some advice on a Busse, The ony Busse I've ever owned was a Skeleton Key. But now what I'm looking for is something in the 11"-12" range O.A.L., something I can use for Camping, Hiking, and as a survival knife in the woods. Really not to sure on all the models, specs.

Thanks & Aloha,
Kerwin

Is the length range referring to the blade length or the overall length?

look at diff styles here.

you can still order a tank buster at the main site which sounds like it may work or check out the Busse blade exchange/sale section.

Well the current model TankBuster fits the bill, you should give that one a look and it certainly will be cheaper than any infi you find on the secondary market. I would also give the NMSFNO a look, although it is longer than you are looking for it is a great knife and there are a few for sale over on the exchange

the TankBuster is certainly the best deal going on at present, but I still prefer the simpler and more classic lines of an ASH (which can be found used for not much more than a new TB). Both are fine knives, as are all of the other models, but an ASH is my favorite mid-sized all-purpose Busse.

I have always been partial to the Sarsquatch myself. The ones I have seen on the exchange lately are priced less than they were new. Give them a look...

I second the ASH. You have the option of "skinny" or fat, regarding blade thickness. The ASH is a tank, and the skinny is just as formidable, with slightly less weight. I picked up a slightly used skinny ash for mid $300 on the exchange.

Go the ASH1 for a general beater. Mine is a cracker!

Hard to beat a heart, I love them.

If you're looking for a chopper in that class I'd suggest a FSH or NMSFLO. However, if you're looking for a lighter, more general purpose knife (not to stomp on the BC sub-forum, 'cause it's all in the family), you may also want to consider a Scrapper 5 LE from Scrap Yard. It's INFI and slightly over 10", making it smaller than your target size, but I bought a dozen S5 CGs and am happy enough with them that I followed up with an order for five S5 LEs. Scrap Yard is still taking orders.

man, where's all the SARsquatch love? as much as I adore my ASH1s, the squatch is just so perfect. check out the SJTAC, too, it's a great all-rounder that has a nice blade shape, if you like something with a bit more of a point than the squatch.

I have been thinking the same thing.

They can do it all.
