I know there's already another thread currently going on asking for verification on a Hinderer, but I didn't want to hijack that individual's thread. I am looking at attaining a knife through one of the forums and (with permission from the seller) wanted to gain some more information from you guys.

I was informed that this knife was purchased at the 2012 GTG and it appears to be bead blasted; possibly a third generation as well? The seller is informing me that a fellow member at the GTG stated it was anodized as well. I've never heard of the two of these things happening.

So my question is: Does the bead blast make this particular Hinderer more special?

Although I've never had a Hinderer before, I trust the seller and it appears to be a legitimate Hinderer (i.e. non-fake). I'm just used to seeing mostly stonewashed finishes except on the customs which I thought were sandblasted, anodized, etc., which I thought was only available at Knife Expos.

Anyways, any light you could shed on the situation would be greatly appreciated!!!

There are other more knowledgeable than I am but I will get it a shot. It could have a bead blasted blade and anodized lock side. I am not sure when the Gen 4 started. Some like bead blast and some stone wash so I do not think it make is more special except to the owner (which is all that really counts). I am sure others will be on here soon with much more exact information. If you get it I am sure you will love it that I know for sure.

Thanks a lot!!! Anything helps at this point. I've wanted a Hinderer for a long time now and I feel certain this won't be the last, but instead the first of many!! Thanks for taking the time to offer what you could, it's already more than I know! :)

Shows offer production knives with different finishes. Photos would help a lot here.

Gen 4 is only in reference to the most recent 3.5" XM.

Bead Blast, Sand Blast, Anodizing (of which I'm very fond) and so on...do not make them more "special". They are all special in their own way. If its a one-of-a-kind or a first or a prototype or a custom...then it's very special.
