Guys, I have to make a quick decision and would appreciate it if you guys could help me out.

I am getting a new XM-18, 3.5" non-flipper, but I'm torn as to what color scale I want to go with.

I've already told Rob black but I'm sure I could probably change it if I hurry. I'm thinking black, tan, marsh or OD? I don't like bright colors. Only muted earthy colors for me.

What would you do? I would appreciate any input but pics in any of the above would really be helpful. . .

Rob sent me a pic of the colors available but its hard to judge until you see them on the knife. The thread below with all the pictures helps but some of them aren't labeled with the color so I have to guess.

I just got a Marsh green from them last week?, Pick anything but black.:D

I got the green/black...looks dandy. Otherwise I woulda went orange to go with my Orange Seiko "Monster"

Black, tan, marsh, or OD green are all hard to see if it got misplaced in the woods, yard, forest, etc. Might want to rethink that not liking bright colors. But then again, I just took my orange scale off my 3 inch and put the black back on. Go figure.....

This obsession is getting very expensive. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Jason, I don't know whether to thank you for the help or blame you for the hit my bank account just took. I believe the term is. . . "Enabler"? :D

Red, I know what you mean but I've been dragging all sorts of drab colored equipment through the woods most of my life. It's a little too late for me to change now. . . ;)

Tattoo, that's the idea eventually.

Antony, to be honest I think the XM actually looks best in basic black. I was thinking that it might be cool to just get something different but this knife in particular just seems made for that color. At least to me anyway.

Thank you all for the help.

Getting expensive is no joke! I didn't own a single Hinderer 3 weeks ago. I owned a lot of ESEE. Now I don't own any ESEE and I own 3 Hinderers!!!

I said anything but black because it is the easiest color to obtain, You could choose any color and swap it for a black scale. Completely up to you though, and I agree that black does look good on the XM.

Hmm. . . That's a good point.

Damn it! Stop making sense! :D

By the way, does no one have a quick pic of an XM with an OD scale they can throw up?

I don't have one, I did see one forsale on another forum. I think it is sold now though.

I personally like the Marsh, Grey, Tan, and Translucent Green. I heard from a little birdie that there are going to be some very exciting materials being used for some scales, so you might hold off for abit.

Here are a couple of green scales on my XM's. One is Green and the other is Pond Scum.

Thanks guys, it looks great and I have a thing for green knives but since it is my first one, I'm going to stick with the black.

As soon as I'm done typing this I'm going set up a tent, and a sleeping bag by my mailbox. :)
