Hello fellow knifeknuts! I am not sure if this is in the appropriate place, but please forgive if it is not.

I have a friend of mine who is a missionary in Africa. He and his wife and their 3 children (plus one African infant they are attempting to adopt) have committed to a 10 year stay in Africa doing God's work in the remotest parts of Eastern Africa!

I spoke with his sister-in-law trying to find out what things they need and cannot easily get while there. My wife and I have been sending food items that they love and miss and cannot get and also some things for their kids that they enjoy and also TV shows, movies, music, etc.

Two other things that he is needing is a decent flashlight and a decent multi-tool. Often, I hear people say that they are not the type of people to GO do mission work, bu they would love to be able to do something to help them.. WELL...if you have an extra multi-tool (leatherman type) or flashlight (something smallish like an Inova line) that you would like to donate to this family, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Please email me any questions or comments and I will do my best to answer them.

Here is my mailing address that you can use if you feel called to mail something. I will mail the items to them as soon as my wife puts together another package (probably a week or so.)

Thanks for your help and PLEASE do not see this as a begging party for these people - simply an attempt to help someone AND afford someone the opportunity to help someone who could use it.

can you tell me what denomination or missions organization he's affiliated with?

Are you telling me all you need is a flashlight and a leatherman? You can't supply those?

They are working with the Churches of Christ (basically Christian Churhces). Their MAIN support congregation is from Atlanta (don't know the exact congregation in GA) but they have multiple churches who are financially supoprting them. The have joined a larger team that is a time of transition. That team has some of their team members who have completed their 10 year committment and are now coming back to the States. That team was mainly comprised of alumni from Harding Univerity (my alma matar) which is in Searcy, AR - also associated with The Churches of Christ.

BladeGoblin-

Thanks for your question. Sure, could I go out and buy him the nicest flashlight money could buy and also the premo Leatherman-type tool? Sure - I could do that. But part of the "gift" to us that support is getting others involved with that experience. Those of you who have helped servants before, you know what I am talking about. It is NOT about the money - just like it is with God in everything. Does God need out money? No, he asks us to give to help others. Could He do it without US? You had better believe it! But He also know what it can do to those whoa are involved with a concept that is difficult to grasp and one that I am still growing in - sacrificial giving. I am FAR from that stage, but my family and I are working on it.

So, to any of you ho still have interest - I would welcome your replies.

Email sent. Leatherman incoming. My hope is God's work would also be mine. Thanks for the opportunity to contribute.

Thanks Reed. Replied to email and I thank God for you and your willingness to help!

I knew that I would get some good replies here... :)
