Well in the process of getting a user Seb 21 small and since I have been hearing of fakes being out there now I get worried about dropping this kind of dough on a knife I don't know is the real deal or not. This will be my first CRK and honestly don't look at them enough to know what to look for for authenticity. So could you CRK owners let me know what you think about this one? I'm espeically worried since the seller has to be paid with USPS MO. Said he got it in 2012 from MonkeyEdge.com Anyways please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Waiting for the experts to chime in but I would also be sceptical. Lock is at like 20 percent? Not enough. Box and papers look good. I'm of no help. :/

Everything looks good to me. That lock up looks very early compared to almost all of mine and others I've seen. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Enjoy your first Sebenza!

Everything looks right, but that lock is really early.
My Sebenza is dead center at 50%.
I can't speak for the box, because I have the new style box, but the finishing looks good on the handles and the blade.

Yeah I think have heard that also that most do have the late lockup too. I actually like a late lockup on framelocks so that sounds good to me but yeah this ones looking early. Since the CRK's are usually out of my price budget haven't really done the research to know what's what. I for the most part believe the seller but I rescently seen a fake with a 2013 box so just really trying to make sure I'm getting the real deal, espeaically since he only takes money orders and from what I hear about MO's is if something goes wrong with the sale it's very hard to return and get your money back. I'm excited to get this. Been waiting for the right deal to come along and today was the day, but also thinking price might be lower than usual for other reasons than being a user. Thanks and will take your guys opinions here and if looking good to you sending MO tomarrow. It looks good to me too though have very little knowledge of CRK's and being the paranoid bastid I gotta try to make sure.

Almost everything looks right..
If your going to sell your knives,..clean them up! nobody wants your pocket lint and grease/gunk

It's real, I have several smalls with early lock up. Nothing to worry about.

Everything looks right from those pictures. Although the lockup is way too early, like others have said.

Everything looks genuine. My concern would be the very early lockup. It could be because there is a pinched washer and was not reassembled by a previous owner. Also, could be the indication of a blade swap. I dont have any small 21's with a double stud, but mostly there is a large cutout for the locking side. I am used to regulars with a double stud, so could be wrong there. But for me personally, the blade lockup would be a no go for me as there is an issue there of some sort. I would look elsewhere. And always remember, if you have doubt, there is usually a good reason.

I bet the lock up looks like that because there is giant wad of crap on the back spacer. I had mine covered in mud yesterday and a little chunk wedged into the area and looked like that which I promptly wiped off of course. But if not that is scary early. My current and the last 21 I had were both early at 50%. But 20% or less is just unheard of.
If it were one of the guys on here I would pick it up if it was really cheap otherwise with a money order only. I would pass.
Matt

I typically buy/sell with only money orders also. My reasoning is that I don't have a PayPal account, I did, but got screwed on some charges and PP was of no help to me. Ever since I've just used US Money Orders. I've been told if something goes wrong that it's a federal crime and you can get the feds involved. I'm not saying this is the case with this person that's selling but it MAY be. Just something to consider.

It looks legitimate. I'd buy it if the price was right. The "early" lockup would not worry me. It can always be sent to CRK for tuning. It would come down to the price and whether the seller has a good rep.

I wonder how the detent is. Did someone do a homemade lockbar adjustment?

I have a ten year old small Regular that is genuine and original and has earlier lockup than the one in post #1 when properly assembled. It happens. I don't see anything else that looks fishy. If you're otherwise happy with the knife and the price, I would go for it. Remember that CRK absolutely stands behind their knives as long as you haven't abused it.

Thanks for all the opinions and info. Sounds like a descent amount of the smaller 21's just do have the early lock up and Bella makes a good point with it being dirty that the real early lockup might be becuase the lockbar, blade, detent might just have gunk on it. Shoulda cleaned before taking pics. So hoping that's just the case otherwise might send to CRK for a look over . If that's all the bad everybody can see(no sign of clone), perfect! Looks like I'm getting my first CRK!:D Thanks everybody.

Have him check for a date stamp on inner slabs and send you a pic. He can afford the extra hassle. I call it a "pain in the ass tax" for asking only money order.

Not an expert by any means but I had the same concerns when I got my first one last year, I did a lot of research on fakes and finally traded for it. Still it was an expensive trade and until I had it in hand I was leary. Now just recently I traded for another small 21 with the CCG Diamond Plate graphic from our own Ajack60 and my fears once again were unwarranted.

From what I see yours looks good, just used.

looks legit to me. My normal lock up is at 60-70, but if I open it really lightly it looks like that when it hasn't locked all the way. maybe the seller did it like that for pics.
