I purchased another native 5 and it has some differences from my other one. So now I need to decide which one is fake or if they are both real but with minor production changes. The first difference is the blade finish. One has the horizontal grind marks like you see on the para 2, kind of a brushed finish. The other one has a satin finish much like kershaw uses where it's like a really smooth bead blast. The one with a brushed finish has a back spacer that slopes to the spring that holds tension on the lock bar. The other one has an "L" shaped back spacer.

Those of you who have g10 native 5's will you please post pics of your blades and interior shots of the back spacers for comparison.

Thanks a million guys
Brandon

Here's a pic of the blade, I have 4 other variations and the all pretty much look the same in those respects.

Thanks guys. Jim, can you post an interior shot of your back spacer.
I appreciate the help guys.

I don't believe there are fakes of the G-10 Native 5 out there. I have had two, one with the grinder finish which is pictured below, and my other one has the uniform satin gray blade. There was also a change to the spring/back spacer at some point as well. Some had a back lock spring which made a bit of an S shape where it attached to the back spacer, and some were straight where it attached to the back spacer. I am currently out of town, or I would get you some better pictures.

The finish on mine looks like this one. And mine came directly from Spyderco in Golden Co.

Because mine came directly from Spyderco, if that makes you feel better, any pictures you want, let me know. I'll take pics for you no problem. :)

Update. You guys totally helped to put my mind at ease. The info given in this thread was much appreciated and extremely valuable to me. Both of my knives are authentic.

Things I learned - Turns out that there are in fact two different styles of back spacer: older style holds the spring at more of an angle to the lock bar, and the newer style holds the spring almost flat to the lock bar. The old one just cuts at approx a 45 degree angle and the new one has a loose l shape. Due to the differences the two cannot share the same style spring.

There are multiple finishes.

Also, as far as clones go, a big giveaway is the lack of the pivot bushing.

Thanks again guys
Brandon
