I picked up a beautiful M6 a few weeks ago but I haven't been able to bring myself to use it. I use every knife I buy, even the expensive ones, but for some reason I haven't been able to break this one in. Its so perfect and flawless and a mint M6 is hard to come by these days.

I think the main problem is my love of the RMD. I compare the two every day and the RMD always wins. Its handle feels more comfortable in my hand and though its smaller, I think it can still do all the work of the m6 while weighing 6 ounces less.

Im not into keeping safe queens but I don't want to use the knife, decide I don't like it and then be stuck with it because I don't want to lose a bunch of money if I resell/trade it. Especially when I am so happy with my RMD.

But even if I end up liking my RMD better, the M6 is such a great piece of swamp history to have. I love having it but, this is a highly desirable knife and I feel guilty keeping one in my knife drawer when someone who would love to be using it goes without one.

Help me make up my mind guys! This knife NEEDS to be used.

Personally, I also prefer the RMD (I own 13 CGs and 3 custom shops, along with several HRLMs, which I also like a lot). However, as you've stated, M6s are not commonly up for sale, so if there's any possibility that you'll regret giving it up enough to replace it, then you're much better off holding onto what you have. Otherwise, let it go and buy a couple more RMDs while they're in the shop -- maybe you'll need a spare, or want to give one as a gift. I believe that it's a lot worse to come up a knife short than to have a few more than you expect to need.

Don't let it go. I was in the same situation. A while back I let a minty M6 go because I did not want to use it and I was not sure that I liked it. After it was gone I missed it and I felt like I missed out on using a great knife.

I was lucky enough to find a user M6 on the Exchange with a BuyBrown Sheath. I have used the user M6 so much and have grown to love it. Now I wish I had kept the mint one and just used it.

When I was debating letting my first M6 go I also compaired it to an RMD. Just looking at the 2 and having only used the RMD I thought that it was apples and apples. It was not. The M6 is a beast. Not to down play the capabilities of the RMD (amazing knife) but the M6 is just way more knife for an addional 4oz. It has more length for batoning. You can choke down on the hande and out chop the RMD. The M6 is zone tempered and (not that I have) could pry open my locked front door. And for some reason my M6 holds a better edge than my other SR101 blades.

If you are really on the fence just use it. If it is not for you I sure you won't take that big of a hit if you sell it. Or we could all chip in $10 each and send it to Noss and get some sweet SR101 in the knife test!

Keep it and use it or don't use it. Later on you'll still be able to get close to what you paid for it if it's used and maybe more if it's still mint. They do seem to be pretty rare to come by. I have two; one user that I stripped and another that is still new. I love the "M" series and don't see myself getting rid of any of them soon.

I say keep it, use it, and enjoy it:D:thumbup:
You could always send it back to the shop and have it recoated after you make sure it is a good one;).

Ok I am going to keep it. And I just bought a Mini Uncle Mojo to go with it :D As much as I love the RMD, there will always be RMD's, I will probably have very few chances to buy an M6 again. Thanks for the advice guys!

Good choice! I don't think you'll regret it.
