Team,
I'm a Noob to the forum and come to you asking for guidance on a few things I can't seem to get right on my own. I have a background as an Army Sapper and have (what I feel) is a pretty good sense of what blades are made for the field and what blades are made for the wall.

I started a non profit/non competitive BBQ team last year that is really just a excuse to get away from the wives and drink some bourbon. It's based around the idea that combat wounded veterans benefit from spending time together hanging out near charred mammal flesh. We have about 11 brothers that are currently evolved and a few months back someone came up with the bright idea of making everyone really sweet cow skin aprons with our logo burnt on it. I want to go another step a make everyone on the team a cleaver/chopper.

I'm looking at different designs, but don't really know what to go with. I want it to look rough (better than an Al Shabaab machete), but I also want it to be able to cut a battery cable and be clean enough to actually eat off afterwards. Don't judge me on this, but almost something similar to the Rambo 5 blade profile, or the zombietools bone machete. I want scary, I want bad ass and over the top...that's what we do.

If you have any ideas for a design that may fit please let me know I'm open to any suggestions and all help will be greatly appreciated.

These work awesome for me. Traditional shaped for a reason: they simply work & work well. Dexter-Russell 7". 8", & 9" Heavy Duty Cleavers. 1/4" thick, full width, full tang & Made in America. They work EXCELLENT !

Try a variation of this design. The thing with cleavers is: too front heavy & fatigue sets in quick & accuracy of cuts suffer, not front heavy enough & the chopping power diminishes, handles & their position/angle are also important & are relevant to how high or low the surface being used to cut on is, as is how tall the person is/relevant to cutting surface. Many things to consider. What is perfect for one may suck to another. Just things to keep in mind is all. I LOVE Cleavers. Am VERY interested to see final product. May even buy one if i could, to help my fellow Veterans. Uhh-Raa. Hope this helps you a little.

For some reason i think StormCrow will do a really good job on this.

Jay,
I like it. it feels like it was stolen from a Rwanadan warlord. Can you give me any more information about the knife? Is Stomcrow the maker?

Twinstick,
I'm a fan of the traditional clever as well, I like something that has enough weight to chop thought a pork shoulder quickly, for this one i'm looking for something just inside a machete i think. Thanks for you help and service. I will post pics.

Sapper,

You may PM me. StormCrow is another that makes blades for the Apocalypse-There are quite a handful.
Watch out for Shawn Hatcher.
