Ok, Have the Blur S30V and Emerson CQC coming in the mail.

Looking at another Kershaw. Which of the four would you recommend?

OSO Sweet

Volt SS

Cryo Hinderer

Clash

Going to throw another in there

CRKT Fossil

Thanks for any help

In reality I'll probably end getting them all sometime in the future.

Another part of original post. Is there one you would stay away from?

I've only owned a few Kershaws and now I avoid them. Don't suppose there's anything wrong with them, I just didn't like the fit and finish of the few that I had.

With that said, the ZT line from KAI is AMAZING! I'd check them out.

I have owned them all and I would skip them all. The Cryo, Volt, Clash and Sweet were all too small for me. It will be smaller in hand feeling than your Blur.

I love my s30v Blur, it is the standard for my recommendations below.

If you are set on a "budget" Kershaw I would try a Cryo 2. It will be a lot closer to the Blur in size and its a frame lock, very sturdy but, it will be heavier. I never minded the weight.

If you are willing to wait I would save up and buy a ZT0566. After finally trading for one about 6 months ago it is the knife that I compare all other knives to. It is perfect for me, I like it assisted and deassisted. It is a frame lock, it's Made in the USA, the Elmax blade will take and keep an edge with no problem and it feel great in the hand. It is in my pocket right now.

love my Cryo. It was the knife that made me take a serious look at getting into the higher quality knives.

You say you have "an Emerson" coming in the mail. Do you mean a Kershaw Emerson collab or an actual Emerson? Because if your budget permits emersons, then presumably it permits ZT's of which I would highly recommend. Especially, as another member noted, their upcoming models which look to be awesome.

Thanks for the help. I think I will follow your advice and get a ZT. Have been looking at these for awhile

The Emerson is the Kershaw-Emerson collaboration. It is the CQC-6K.

I think I have to get the Skyline sometime.

You know what my problem is.

I use my knives and I am hesitant to buy an expensive one because I'm afraid I will "baby" it and never want to use it.

I also have this thing of buying $30 - $100 knives making it look better on the account and justifiable of not spending to much. Then I realize that if I hadn't bought the three knives I just did, I could of just bought one nicer high end knife.

I had a 6k. It was a good knife, I liked the size and weight. However, I didn't take the time to learn to properly use the wave and stabbed myself a few ones. I didn't take the time to get used to it, it was sold.

If a knife comes in the front door and I feel like I wouldn't use it because I wouldn't want to hurt it then it goes right back out the front door. I "collect" knives that are useful and that I will use. I don't like seeing a bunch of them sitting around looking pretty.

If you buy good quality knives then using them shouldn't be a problem. A good knife should take EDC abuse and not blink.

As far as budget knives go I would take a look at a RAT 1 and/or a Buck Vantage Select Force. Both can be had between $30-$40.

If money is an object, it certainly is for me, it would be worth it to save and buy a ZT566 or a BM Griptillian. I can't speak highly enough about both knives. Both can be had on the exchange, depending on the condition for around $50-$75 for the Grip and $80-$95 on the ZT.

Take my advice with a grain of salt though, I am extremely picky. If I obtain a knife and even one thing is "wrong" with it in terms of feel, looks or workmenship I won't keep it. Those things basically scream at me every time I see the knife and I just don't carry it. The suggestions above, as with my previous comments are based on me liking the Blur and what I have ended up as a result.

ETA: I am also in the market for a Skyline and I have 3 Leeks. The Leek is also a great knife but, is much smaller and of a different intended use than the Blur.

Yes, I'm excited to get the Blur in my hands and definitely going to buy the ZT in the near future.

Right now my folders consist of

RAT 1
RAT 2
Utillitac 2
Kabar Dozier
Tenacious
Delica
Lansky Responder
Buck 110
Couple auto knives from Germany
Opinel
Couple of SAK's
Few old Sheffield's

I own a Cryo, gifted my Clash to a friend and bought my wife an OSO Sweet. Of those three, the Clash was my favorite, and I'll probably buy one again eventually. I do occasionally EDC the Cryo, but I can't really list it among my favorites. It just lacks that something special despite having features that I like and being reliable so far. I guess it's a matter of the Cryo being "dressed up" like a hard use knife (ZT) but due to its small size and blade steel, just not convincing me that it could function in that capacity.
