Some guy keeps emailing me from blacklab666@hotmail.com . I have no idea who it is, but it's getting on my nerves. It's got to be someone here or maybe sdf (but I haven't posted there in 2 years), as the last tagline was gunting..the messages are alittle creepy. The only quick search I did for blacklab666 turned up some guy on Suicidegirls-A website I don't belong to. If somebody with magical computer powers can help me figure out who this is, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, Joe

There is no way you can figure out who owns a hotmail account. The government probably could if they wanted to but you are not going to be able to do it.

It is even possible that the emails you are getting are not actually from that address, it is easy enough to forge email headers. If you know what you're doing you can work that out and, possibly, discover what domain they are really coming from.

My suggestion is that you divert them to your trash box automatically. Most email software and many web based systems will allow you to do this or enter the address on a blacklist or mark it as spam.

There are no attachments; they're 1kb messages. It seems from the content that whomever is sending these actually knows me, or knows of me-the first time I thought that someones's mail account got hijacked, or it was stupid spam. The second one included an ethnic slur that applies to me. Plus, curiosity is killing me.

If you're anticipating any legal/law enforcment involvement, you should save copies of the e-mails. If there are file attachments, I'd delete them immediately.

A program like MailWasher will allow you to preview the text, see attachments if any, and delete the mail directly from the server without ever downloading it to your computer.

Good Luck,
Bob

In that case I would save the e-mails. Should the messages indicate stalking or become threatening, a law enforcement agency can get a warrant and track down teh sender.

Sounds like someone needs a good ass-kicking.

Yes, do what Bob suggests. If they get nastier you need to talk to the law. If you do that you need to keep records.

best thing to do is to keep deleting--WITHOUT opening if possible.
I agree, just clear it right off your computer by hitting the delete button. Delete, Delete, Delete.
