Guys,

I just found out my daughter and her husband (currently just got back from Iraq stationed on the east coast will be coming for xmas. I would like to get my son-in-law a Busse Combat of some sort, beefy, yet get able to carry on missions. He is trying for special selection in the spring and I thought this would be a great gift for him.

I don't know much about Busse knives except they are great looking and use great steel. What I need is a knife with sheath in the $500 range. Something like an ASH1, or slightly larger.

I found one last night but the sheath was sold this morning, or late last night while I was double checking with my daughter. This knife has to be in my hands in within the next week.

PLEASE HELP. Email Mark at waterworksnw.com

SFNO LE in the exchange at $10 over cost then Mashed Cat for kydex.

why not go SAR 6 SE, seems like a perfect knife for him to take, blade and sheath together 447.00

Would you like to get him a combat grade (coated) or satin finish?

If satin, I'm sure the SAR 6 would be great and is currently offered through the company store.

If combat grade, then the exchange is a great place to look.

As for the sheaths, Mashed Cat, Buy Brown, and other folks around here make great kydex sheaths and are probably available for immediate shipment (don't quote me on that thought).

Spec Ops also makes sheaths that fit some Busses, and are great for Molle attatchment.

Bussecollector.com lists MANY models with pictures so if you're not sure which model would be best, there's a good way to see the variences.

The Desert Storm Fighters are AWESOME, and are selling at wonderful prices right now.

i would look at one of the CABS, here: www.bussecombat.com and then see if David at buybrown.com could get you a sheath, pretty sure that could be accomplished within your required timeframe and well under your price...

Remember he said he wants something like the ASH1 or larger.

Thanks guys, all set. My son-in-law will be the proud owner of a SFNOLE. I contacted Eric and I should have sheath by xmas.

Many thanks for all the emails and help. Special thanks to Chris C. for all his emails and guidance it really is going to be a great gift.

an SFNOLE is a fantastic knife, with many characteristics of an ASH (big fat blade with lots of belly, overall size, etc) but with a more comfortable handle. having owned and used an ASH a ton, I'd have picked an SFNO instead if I had to do it over in that size...

I just wanted to say for the OP that the idea is absolutely awesome, and if I ever marry, I hope my father-in-law is as cool as you.

Second thing I wanted to say was that azwelke gave a great tidbit there, definitely a good idea. Definitely a great knife for someone deployed.

I would sell you my black on black tank buster, but I don't have a sheath for it, so I won't even bother posting a picture.

If you can't find a Busse Combat that fits your needs there is always the Buskins, Swamp Rat or Scrapyard. I just bought a Scrapyard Regulator, great price too. I am stoked personally, can't wait until I get my hands on it.

SR101 too not SR77. Real thick (5/16s), 7 and a half inch long blade, paid 115 for it. Scrapyard sells sheaths too they could probably get one in your hands in a week.

But I don't know, just thinking out loud here. Good luck man and if I see something you maybe interested in I will come back to this thread and post.

Nice job, your son in law is a lucky dude to have someone like you looking out for him, sending him off with some harcore stee and alll. My buddy did two tours with a Ka-Bar Marine Combat Knife and in the course of daily activity completely annihilated it. It took me countless hours and removal of a TON of material to get that thing back in acceptable shape. If he had a Busse it would have still been asking for more when he came home :)

Thanks Guys, I am so jealous, I need to get one also, all I have is a ka-bar. At least I will get to play with it for a day or so before he gets here.

SFNOLE owners say its the best overall sized and made busse knife. I'm sure your son-in-law will be very pleased with your gesture. Good man!!
