Hey all, I have an issue and I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction getting it solved. My father recently went on a trip to Germany where our family originates. One of the many stops he made was to Todtnau in Germany, the oldest place he could trace our family to. Knowing that I am a knife knut he got for me a beautiful Boker knife. It is much nicer than anything I would buy for myself, aluminum handles with desert ironwood inlays and BG42 blade steel. After a week of normal pocket carry and opening letters the pocket clip has bent and no longer holds any purchase on the pocket. I would like to contact Boker and try to get this rectified, as I love the knife otherwise and am quite sentimental about it. I'll try to add pics if I can figure out how to do it. Please help, and thanks in advance for any advice that anyone can offer.

Edit: this should be a link to pics of the knife: http://imgur.com/a/BwkJ4

Thanks

that didn't happen from normal pocket carry, right? you caught it on something? do you back pocket carry? as i see lots that have that happen carrying in their back pockets. if it just happened from carrying without catching it on something to bend it outwards, it would be defective. never seen one that was before, but first time for everything.

not sure what country you are in, but you could email/call boker service in your country and maybe get a new one sent to you or send it the knife and get the clip replaced/repaired.....if you have any handy skills, i'd take it off with the correct size torq bit and bend it back with blue/painters tape on the clip to not leave marks using a vise very carefully or flat pliers/clamps whatever you have. easy fix, i do it all the time on clips like that. word of warning if you don't have the right tools or know how then contact boker service. don't stick the whole knife in a clamp/vise and try to fix it, it won't go well. making it worse and then contacting them, usually doesn't go well.

Thanks for your reply.

I carried this for about a week in my front right pocket. I very rarely carry anything other than a handkerchief in my back pocket. I remember sticking it in my back pocket 1 time for about an hour, then I returned it to my front pocket. Clip was still fine then. It was never particularly stiff and still isn't especially springy, I'm thinking I got one that was poorly tempered. My experience with clips has been that once they bend, even if you bend them back they never stay bent back. I dunno if boker people frequent the forum, but I thought I would start here. I'll shoot Boker an email. I'm in the US so I hope that they'll make it right even though the knife was bought in Germany. It's very annoying, but I know that nobody's perfect. We'll see what they say. I'm further annoyed that I can't figure out what the model number is. The receipt is hand written and just says "Boker messer" which just means Boker knife in German. Not much help. I love this knife, I just want to be able to carry it without losing it or worrying about the clip just breaking off.

This is an already discontinued model. The model name is Helios BG42 and the item number is: 110085BG

you can contact Boker USA, have a look at the stickies on the top of this forum

That's probably why I couldn't find any info on it. I'll check out the stickies, dunno how I missed them. THANKS!

Take off the clip, and bend it so that the end of the clip is at more of an acute angle toward the knife, re-attach the clip. Problem solved.
