I'm making a Taco sheath in .06 kydex for a BK2.

I'm getting good imprint on one side but the other side is like "indented" instead of "printed"

What am I doing wrong here?

I've started over 3 times now and I always get the same thing.

This has never happened to me while making a pancake sheath.

Thanks for the help guys!

A press with knifekits foam. I've made many pancake sheaths and this is the first time it's hapenned.

Either your press is uneven or your foam is worn out. If your foam is fine, then check that your press is applying pressure evenly or at least more towards the handle than the tip.

Ok thanks for the info, I will check that out.

Actually, how do I know if the foam is finished? lol I really don't think it is though.

I am not a pro but I'm going to take a stab at it. Either your foam is worn out or it is possible that the thick handle and variable shape on the BK2 scales is affecting the ability of the foam to fully compress. So as Kiah said, check your foam or maybe double up the foam to compensate for the BK2's handle size and shape.

I am also thinking thick handle and thin foam. You might try heating the kydex a little hotter as well.

The thin .060 kydex is cooling faster on one side than the other. When the kydex touches the cool foam, that side starts to cool faster. So you need to be faster, and you may be twisting the knife when you do your fold over, if you pull too hard, that will also cause this.

Well used (still workable) on top, new on bottom:thumbup:

I agree one thing to try, heat up the foam before pressing you will get a better sheath

My thoughts exactly. Get an electric heating pad and put it in the press while you heat the kydex. Don't apply pressure, just let it sit between the foam.
