Need some help with different metals.

I'm new here still, so forgive me if I post this at the wrong forum, but I wasnt sure. Anyway, are there any good quick guides for the different materials in knives? I did a search but didn't find anything usefull (allthough I might admit that my search skills aint that good).

Mainly I was thinking how the AUS4 CRKT use in their M16 Zytel EDC compares to Benchmades 440C in their Pikas.

No comparison, AUS4 is softer, weaker, less wear resistant. For most uses, particularly the uses an EDC folder is used for, 440C is well superior.
