Need some help with my carbon knives

I own 5, and I only really carry one on a truly consistent basis. While not being carried I have a display case that keeps them up and out of harms reach, or so I thought.

I opted to pull out my Case SBJ since my normal carry (GEC 85) is in need of a sharpening. I looked at the knife and it seemed fine this morning but after looking at it a few minutes ago it seems to have developed a few spots of rust inside the knife where the blade is when the knife is closed.

The blade has no real spots on it , it was my favorite carry before the 85 and has a nice patina, but i am concerned for the inside of the knife. How do i go about cleaning it up and preventing it from happening again? I don't have any desire to take the knife apart as i have no experience in such things.

TL/DR; My traditional is rusting on the inside despite being in a decent display case, I would like to know how to fix it with out taking it apart (no experience) and then place preventative measures to avoid future damage.

I'm no purist on these things but a fine wire brush attachment on a Dremel tool does wonders for me to clean up rusty slides and other finicky parts on automotive applications. You could try super-fine steel wool too. To keep my guns from rusting I merely spray them lightly with WD40.

I take a wooden clothes pin, take it apart and shave the thin edge down until it will fit down inside the bays and then use mineral oil (or Flitz if badly affected) to clean the inside if the knife. You can really scrub the inside and backsprings like this. Use bits of paper towels on the clothes pin to remove the excess Flitz or oil.

I use bamboo meat screwers shaved down to fit the blade slot. You can shape them into tiny chisels for the back springs. Oil with mineral oil and scrub with the screwers. If you have a cloth in your showcase to lay your knives on, it could be holding moisture like a sheath does.

Best regards

I use a Stim-u-dent plaque remover. Kind of like a toothpick but is triangular in shape with flat sides. Works good for your teeth too :). I use a little green compound from my strop or mineral oil if it's not bad. Not on your teeth though :).
Try putting a desiccant pack in your display case, that might help if humidity is the problem.

Pipe-cleaners are my main weapon of choice! :)

Ultrasonic cleaner with dawn and an itchy trigger finger on the start button. Has been my primary way of getting rust off tools since i got the thing a few weeks ago. I did this on a couple tools with good results, just depends on what your putting in there as it may harm what your trying to fix. Fortunately for me the tools in question were solid steel.

Wasn't the most effective method using dawn but it was all i had at the time and I was actually doing other stuff around the house and just kept hitting start again when the house wasn't being drowned out by that machine.

Before this it has been dawn + toothbrush/metal brush.
