For years I've carried a folder with pocket clip. I've always carried it in right pocket. Im also active Army and carry in same pocket. I don't use a lanyard because my phone is also in same pocket, don't want a scratched screen.

The problem I'm having is my steering wheel in my car is all scrapped up from getting in and out but more so getting in. Is there something I can coat my pocket clip with to help prevent further damage to my steering wheel.? I've thought about that rubber stuff you dip tool handles in. Any ideas would be great. Thanks for your time.
 
Maybe don't sit so close to the steering wheel? I've seen people sitting so close to the steering wheel, they are practically eating the airbags. Move your seat back, adjust your steering wheel so it is not sitting so low, find a different way to get into the car, be more careful.
 
Get right soldier , we don't care about no,scratches, and on a steering wheel of your car??? Take that clip off and carry on and hope ur buddies aren't on here, and worried about a phone too WTH!!!!!!!!!

Seriously thats a good question , maybe other pocket carry while driving otherwise I dunno.
 
Try that black "heat shrink" stuff . get the right size so the pocket clip just fits in then use a heat gun to make it shrink down . It'll never come off and if one layer isn't enough just do a second one over the first one ;)
 
It's not that I sit close to the wheel it's getting in. I don't have tilt steering. I drive an Evo, only one way to get in. My seat is adjusted properly. I didn't think of heat shrink. I'll try that. Thank you.
 
It doesn't happen on my Jeep . But the car I had before , the steering wheel was REALLY messed up from the clip on my Spyderco .

To be honest I never thought of the heat shrink when I had the problem either :confused:

That's weird... I've never had that issue! Probably has to do with the clearance in the car you are driving.

The way I see it is that you basically have 3 options:
1. put some kind of coating on it
2. take the clip off and carry it in your pocket (which I assume isn't an option because of your phone)
3. carry it in another pocket

I like the shrink wrap idea though!
 
Head to the ren faire and get yerself a baldric. And a leather tunic (you know, for weekend use)

Maybe paint some layers of epoxy/super glue onto clip in lieu of heat gun/shrink wrap
 
Let me know what happens. My eclipse and wrangler steering wheels have been eaten up by my knife.
