Hi CR fans,

Okay here is the deal, I'm looking for a folding knife and I have been eyeing for the umnumzaan for quite a bit now and I want some honest opinions and feedback.

First of all what would make the Sebenza take the edge over the Umnumzaan

Second What don't you like about the Zaan

Third I want real feedback from users not collectioner as mine will become an EDC, does the edge roll well or does it chip (even small).

What would you like to see improved on the Zaan.

Is an S35VN Zaan in the works or I should get the S30V right away.

How do you find the pivot to react when fouled with grit and sand (there will be a lot) would a disassembly tool be mandatory ?

Is there a nice slim puch available around for the Zaan ?

What are your feedbacks on the ceramic ball vs the sebenza liner lock ?

what about the rubber stops, if removed does it affect the blade lockup, do you keep them in good shape with silicon ?

How is the blade retention, does your Zaan open up in the pocket sometimes ?

For your information its the first Folder in a while, as I have mostly used fixed blade, but for some reason, especially from the common folks point of view i'd rather use a folder.

Thank you in advance

You will find nearly all these answers if you look back a few pages. I just posted a thread a couple weeks ago about what I like and dislike about the umnumzaan. I stated the things I like about the sebenza over the zaan & things I like about the zaan over the sebbie. Just look back a few pages.

+1 on the above.
I did not have it chip yet, and I use steel to roll the edge back in shape, I found it does wonders. Still shaving sharp for me.

s35vn: CRK states nothing will change about the umnumzaan in the near future, of course, they will only tell when the changes are made and distributed to the dealers. Don't wait.

rubbers are not necessary for the blade stop / lock. the contact is with the stop pins. It just makes opening less noisy

Love it:thumbup::thumbup:

Ive got 2 regular zaans and use 1 now.Ive been edc it for almost 3 months.

I think if you would have asked about 1/4 as many questions as you did

you would be getting a Lot More Responses to your Questions. :D:D

I have a collection of EDCs that include two Sebenzas, Benchmades, Spydercos... The Zaan has replaced them all as my go-to knive. No chipping or blade rolling. Touch-up even after cutting some pretty harsh materials is easy. Lock-up with the ceramic ball is perfect and blade retention is more than enough. Does not even remotely budge when in the pocket. There is something about this knife that makes me want to just use it exclusively since the day I bought it.

Yeah I sure asked a lot but to tell you the truth thru the answers I get it reasons me more and more that 400 bucks is worth the knife, so I keep on reading good things and I have to be true to me that nothing is perfect but I want what best fits my need, if I buy another 3 or 4 knives its going to cost as much as a umnumzaan anyhow so why not get once a good knife that fits the need and lasts a lifetime.
