Hey guys/gals, or I should say fellow blade lovers! I today was surfing eBay and happened upon and very interesting piece. It is a modified RMJ tactical Shrike tomahawk. It could just be from abuse, but it looks almost hammer forged? I have a Jenny Wren being made and hopefully delivered sometime next month and will be using as a defense/ camp tool so I don't have any experience with Tac Tomahawks per say yet. But I found such a good deal on this old looking Shrike and it looked so cool I could not pass it up!

My question to you guys in the tomahawk know is does this look hammer forged? Does it look like the tang at the bottom is cut or is it just from where the tang ended and the hollowed out sharpener holder was cut off? Finally what are the chances of RMJ honoring their stellar warranty with a piece such as this?
(Warranty question better asked through RMJ).

Here is the sale on EBay: http://m.ebay.com/itm/301616677437?nav=WATCHING_ENDED

There is one on YouTube modifying in a similar way, but not the same:

Basically, has anyone seen a Shrike like this before?
Hopefully It is a quality piece, then again it indeed may not be. Excited to at least find out! Any help would be awesome identifying this

Short answer is, it's not been heat-treated, and likely taken from the forger due to being a second or defective piece. I'm sure Ryan or crew can elaborate more, but it was discussed on the Facebook group already.

Ouch. Well I guess that will teach me to buy something like that from eBay again. Thanks Lapp

If you did buy it, email the RMJ crew for better info. They will know more about the piece than I do. If it was one of the stolen defective forgings, I don't believe the warranty will be honored. Post back and let us know if you would though.

I emailed John at RMJ (well support but email is directed towards Mr. Carmack) to explain that I probably had been duped after reading about the stolen blanks here:

https://rmjtactical.wordpress.com/2014/10/01/forging-rmj-tactical/

Now I'm hoping that mine is not just one of the blanks that was stolen from the forge RMJ uses as I'm guessing I would not want to rely on it for anything important and just wasted money. Above it says that the stolen blanks are usually wrapped in cord, which I assume is para cord. Mine looks to have a little more thought put into it, but I suppose that doesn't really mean anything. Crossing fingers I wasn't totally ripped off. I will even send to them for verification just to have it figured out I guess. Lapp, have any links to share on the subject since the net does not have too much on this? This hurts. But you live you learn

Crossing fingers
Thanks

Hey jumper, would there be any reason why I would not be able to view this page on Facebook? I can access RMJ's Facebook page just not this link? Anyway, thank you and Lapp for helping confirm I'm the idiot of the week. Going to try and dispute, but I'm sure it will be futile.

Are you a member of the RMJ Tactical closed group on facebook? That might be the issue; they have a page and a group.

Could you possibly send me the link where I need to sign up for the group. I am a huge Tomahawk fan and have a Jenny Wren on order and looking at possibly getting an active shooter as well when they are released here very soon.
