With a bunch of rostfries there was one I'd never seen before the guy behind the desk didn't know anay thing about it accept that it was from Japan it was nice so I got it for $50.

Here are some specs
Blade:4 1/2 in of 440 stainless
Handles:Brass with miricita inserts
Lock:Batangas style
Blade Markings:C.I. 440 STAINLESS(on left side)
1200 JAPAN(on right side)

I haven't seen one in person and I don't know what the model 1200 looks like off the top of my head, but I have heard good things about C.I. bali's. I think that you got a pretty good deal on it, provided it's still in good condition.

Jet,
The CI 1200 retailed for about $50.00 when we were selling them back around 1986. I have used the same one as my personal every day carry Balisong since 86. Had to replace the pins twice in that time and it needs to be sharpened pretty regularly, but otherwise it has held up great. I removed the latch back when I got it, as an experiment and it is the knife I used for most of the demos in the Balisong tapes.

The Compass 1200-Cho No Shi is a fabulous knife. Heavy and robust blade and handle. Its also a very handsome piece. Our moderator gollnick has info. on them on his marketwatch page. also sniperboys page has some info on them and ranks them with Taylor manila folders or close behind. NIB worth around$100-so you did very well.
