Hi everybody,

I just found the Blade Forum today and wanted to know if someone would be willing to help me with some info on some Buck Knives that I have. I bought them in the early 80's. I was buying reloading supplies at an auction for a gun store that was going out of business. I bought a "lot" that had some stuff in the top of the box that I wanted. When I got home and emptied the contents, I found the knives. I have given several away over the years and have a few left that I am going to donate to my Hunting Retriever Club for raffle items.

I was wondering if I could find out the current value of what I want to donate. We usually put the value of the raffle items on them so that people buying the raffle tickets will know the value.

All of these items are New in the original Box with all the paperwork that came with them. They have been in the cedar chest for 20+ years. I looked on the BUCK website to see if they had current prices and it appears these are out of production so may have some added value as collector items. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The black leather sheath has 317 on the back and BUCK on the front.

The handle on this knife is black.

1 - STEELMASTER / MODEL 137 / CAT. #473 (info on the box)

BUCK STEELMASTER 137

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hello James and welcome to the forums!
I did a quick check online and there were not a whole lot of sales of those models lately but here is my best guess at to values:
123 Fillet $50
125 fillet $50
317 Trailblazer $125
137 $35

This assumes that they are all brand new in the box with papers. I did see a 137 sell for $75 but I have to believe that was an anomaly. When those do sell, it is usually for a lot less than that.

I hope this helps and maybe someone else will chime in with their opinions too.

Thank you Joe.

All of these are brand new, have not been used or handled. The Fillet knife boxes have the WARRANTY paper, "A word from the Chairman of the Board of Buck Knives" paper, the "BUCK KNIVES" brown wrapping paper and a yellow "Caution" paper in them. The Trailblazer has the WARRANTY paper, "A word from......" and a "How to sharpen your knife on a stone" paper.

When I place them in the raffle would it be proper to use the phrase "Out of Production - Collectors Item" Value $XX.XX or should I phrase it some other way so as not to offend any potential collector that might be there? I don't want anyone mouthwhipping on our raffle.

One other thing, can you tell me when these were manufactured?

Joe is spot on with the 123 and 125 fillets ;)
I picked all of mine up for 30 or less but that was the last few years.
I did a search on that auction site and there were a few sold and they were all 46-49 bucks ;)
They have gone up a tad I guess! Good luck! They are great knives! early-mid 80's I would guess without seeing pics of them.
Sorry I know nothing about the other 2.

"Out of Production - Collectors Item" ...I think that fairly sums them up. Only I bet that a lot of guys would actually use them as apposed to collecting them.
The fillets were discontinued in 2000.
The 317 Trailblazer was discontinued in 1989.
The 137 in 1990.
I hope this helps and good luck with the raffle! :)
