I was just wondering if there is anything specific that I should know to watch out for or fix on a new butterfly knife. Anything at all.

Well, the one thing I know is to make sure that the blade's edge doesn't touch the inside of the handle when it's closed.

Aside from that, do a search for "Balisong" and see what's been written about it in the past.

OH! I just remembered another thing to watch for!
Make sure it doesn't chop off your fingers whilst showing off for your parents, children or Priest.
