Hey guys...

Do any of yall have the TG1. I really really like the overall design, dimensions, etc. Now I haven't had a Kershaw assisted opener in years as I've never really been much of a fan, but that very well could change. My main concern is the durability of the assisted opening aspect since this knife will be used ALOT.

I guess what I'm asking is if the assisted opener will hold up and not wear out too soon where it opens too easily....

thx guys

there was a thread in general knife discussion where a guy opened and closed his leek around 20K times and it was still fine. if you are worried about the torsion bar wearing out prematurely order a few to have to have just in case (for free). replacing broken torsion bars is fairly simple and straightforward.

Kershaw tests their folders to 10,000 uses. Your knife will be just fine. You can always get free torsion bars in the mail as part of Kershaw's warranty as well. :)

Just go pick one up already! They're a fun knife!

czombie, I've got an oooold 440c Blur with the sandpaper inserts that still fires off pretty good even though half of the anodizing on the scales is worn off. I just picked up a blem Rake another Galyean design. Get the Turbulence already:D

My old chive is still opening quick and it dates back to when that model first showed up in stores. The liner lock is worn out, and was my only knife for years, and is now my sisters, its seen a lot of use so in my opinion the torsion bar setup is very solid. I had one break on a leek, but that happened after about the fifth opening and even then it still functioned fine as a non assisted opener even without taking the broken bits out, until we got a new spring in (free)

Thx for the responses guys....I had no idea that free torsion bars where part of their warranty

Don't I feel like a dummy now....:o
