Hello everyone,

This one is for all you Kydex wranglers....

I have a large Spec-Ops Combat Master sheath that I need a custom insert made for. I have a Satin Saber .27 HHFSH that I would like to put in it. I tried modifying the original insert and wrecked it. I figured a thin open backed insert would be perfect. Has anyone around here done this without using the original insert?

I have made inserts for those,
you would have to send the knife, or find someone who has one:thumbup:

Yea Man - Just buy some kydex in your preferred thickness and set your heatgun free

Seriously, you can do it

Dave and Steelnut are high on my list of "go to" plastic huffers. :)

I have owned sheaths from Dave. Super sheaths!

I have not personally owned one from SteelNut, but have read lots of rave reviews.

Alzaweki?? Spelling? on this forum and on the exchange makes solid sheaths as well (I have owned one so I can say that without any reservations).

Plenty of others too.

To get the right fit, you might need to send the knife in, unless one of the makers already has a pattern, and a spec ops sheath to make sure it fits right.

Yep you would need the knife or one exactly like it to make the fit perfect.

But as other have said, a thin piece of kydex & a heat gun, just heat the middle section and fold it from the edge to the spine, then cut off the excess and wa la your are good to go.

I think a 12"X12" piece of thin black from knife kits is about 10.00 with shipping ?

Or send the knife & sheath to one of us & we can do it up nice.

E-mail me if you would like.

You can get new inserts from spec-ops and I was one of the first (if not the first) to get a HH into a Spec-Ops by modifying the insert. So I would be happy to give you pointers on how to make it work. My only concern would be that they use a cheaper product now and I am not sure how far you can push it.
As far as getting kydex custom made, this forum is an oyster bed of makers. Each is superb and has there individual specialties. I don't believe you will find a tighter fit and more flare than Buy Brown, Steelnut is probably the most accommodating as far as trying design elements out (in my experience) and experimenting. I have typically settled on Mashed Cat and just have had a good relationship with Eric in getting exactly what I want. You shouldn't be disappointed by any of the folks. I haven't.

Thanks to everyone for the responses and advice :) I knew there was a reason I hang out here! I don't post as much as a lot of you guys but when I do everyone is always helpful and friendly. Maybe it's the whiskey talkin but you guys and gals rule.

So is everybody ready for the Ganza tomorrow?
