So I found a nice Sable IV, and I am a little thrown off by the blade. I thought it would be wider, but I do like the feel of the one piece design. Here is the Q, I do some camping and hiking(modern gear), along with some trap setting and camp making. Is this Sable IV what I should have??? I have been thinking of the Shadow or Mountaineer styles, and I also thought of the Green Beret 5.5". I am a huge fan of A2 for it's toughness and edge retention, but supposedly CRK does a great HT on S30V for hard use. From you guys that have used a lot of CRK one pieces and the GB series, is there another design that I would be happier with or is this a great one??? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

The only CRK fixed blade I own is a Shadow III so I can't help with the others. I do alot of hiking and camping and the Shadow III is always on my belt. I carry a small hatchet while camping, but when just out hiking or fishing I've never felt like I didn't have enough knife with me. The pancake sheath that comes with the knife is the best sheath I've ever worn. It is so darn comfortable there is no reason not to wear the knife. For an outdoors knife I much prefer the A2 over S30v although I love S30v for a pocket knife. The spear point blade style of the shadow series is pretty useful in the type of cutting I do. If I am out hunting I carry a skinning blade with more belly in my pack that is razor sharp, all other cutting chores are done with the Shadow III. Not sure if this is what you were looking for but I hope it helps some.

Hike with an Aviator 4" and I've never needed more. But then again, I don't hunt or build shelters while hiking. This said, for cutting tree branches, making a walking stick, digging out bulbs and stuff like that, I love it. I don't think it's a chopper, but that's not what it's designed for either.
