Who has a quickdraw sheath?

Would you mind posting a picture to this thread?

Been a while since I saw one - IIRC, hollowdweller showed me one at the MWKK04.

Thanks!

Those Cold Steel Gurkee Nifes have a very similar design to the quick draw sheath Terry Sisco made for Beoram.

Hmm... I might have to try that. Still, for keeping one handy around the house, nothing beats a cardboard sheath. :)

I should make a couple that have a 10 day frog.

A *VERY* good friend made a quick draw sheath for my 15" siru. I'll try to get pics posted tonight.

Can you give more information on how the leather is wrapped around inside the sheath (where the quickdraw part is)....?

Thanks!

Here are pics of the sheath a dear friend made for my 15" Sirupati. It fits the knife like a glove and draws very well. I wish I had the skill do stuff like this. But, alas, my karma is to be buyer of fine things rather than a maker of them. :D

Hmm Dan...bad camera. It's folded over and glued in place. Thin leather (but tough). You'll have to see it foor yourself sometime.

This is the only quick draw sheath that I possess right now. It is a kydex rig that came with a GH WWIII some years back. The sheath design and execution are excelent.

Whoever made this rig is a pro! It has absolutely no fat on it! If there is some concern about protecting the wearer, you could take a small U shaped channel of kydex, and line the entire area along the khukuri's edge. It could be affixed with epoxy and/or carefully sewn to the leather. You might have to use a bit of care on inserting the blade, but it could be withdrawn very rapidly. The simplicity of this scabbard is quite apparent. The chape is rounded, and has a beautiful shape to it. The belt loop is hidden. Excellent design all around.

For leathers, horse hide might be a good candidate since it can be nicely tooled, and is durable. There are many possibilities... Tandy Leather Co. is probably a good place to ask questions on the best type of leather, etc.

Nice rig! :)

Yes, spiral and Drdan - those are what I was looking for.

I need a closeup picture of how the leather turns and goes inside where the spine is exposed. (with the sheath empty)

Are both of those lined? (wood, etc.)

ok Dan camera batterys are on charge, It might take 16 hours , but will post some when done. mine has some slight damage there but you can still see how its folded in at the sides over the wood inner scabbard.

Yes - that's Dwayne's work. Nice indeed. No liner on that one, though. Is a liner desirable (to y'all)?

Hi Dan,
Unable to post pix at momment so have emailed them to you.

Have included pix of Assam rifles{gurkha} machete Dao scabbard as well as it is just leather, no wood liner & a side opener.

Personaly ,I like a well fitted thin wood liner. ;)

Cheers,
Spiral
